Although I live in the Charlotte, NC area, my husband and I frequently travel to ATL to visit close family members. During these visits we often go to the International Supermarket off of Jimmy Carter Blvd. Jimmy Carter Blvd is off of I-85. This store obviously has food from all over. In addition to the vegetables and produce from all over, you will find an entire section devoted to African foods.

Also, there is at least one other that I know of. I need to check with my sister in law for the name and exact location. Please give me until tomorrow to respond back.

Hey Ara,

There are two stores that we visit but, they are on the southside of Atlanta near the Airport, which is about a 20min drive from where you will be doing the biometrics with no traffic. I have the address for one Ideal Tropical Foods, Inc.

the address is 5445 Riverdale Rd./SR 139, College Park, Atlanta,GA 30349. The other is the Happy Market it is an Asian-African Market which is litterally right next to the Ideal Tropical Foods on the same side of the street. They are both easily accessible once you get off the interstate if you take I-285(Riverdale Rd. exit) or the 85S(exit to Riverdale Rd). Depending on what day your biometrics I can make myself available on Monday, Wednesday or Friday to help if you choose to visit one of these stores, PM if interested.

Forchika,

If I am I-85 South, is this the exit before Old National Hwy? If so, do I make a left or right off the exit ramp?

Thanks.

My husband and I went to Atlanta for the holidays where he planned to cook a few West African dishes for the family... But we left the palm oil at home and didn't realize it until we had already begun to cook. We made few phone calls and found out there was an African shop right around the corner. When we got to where we thought the shop was, we realized that it wasn't the shop we were initially directed to. Come to find out there are SEVERAL African food shops on Memorial Drive (off I-285) in the Stone Mountain/Decatur area. I think the one previously listed on Rockbridge is in the same area. We were able to find EVERYTHING we needed, plus a few extra things to bring back to Jacksonville!! PM me if you would like for me to research the store we went to. The selection was quite extensive....
