Uh, si man. And, I suspect that StP is still The Prettiest. Am taking a break from 12 straight hours of clean-housing in prep for C.'s presumed entry on Oct. 9. Lawyer says that harassment of K-1 entrants is "rare," but nothing about our journey has been smooth, no man. Closer to home, there's probably another 3 or 4 hours of clean-housing ahead, aargh man. If only treacle had booze in it, si man...

No, man. Brittania rules the waves, si man, and Britannia's gross national product is supported by, or is, treacle, si man, and it should have booze in it, hic man.

Worked from 10 a.m. Wed. till 2:30 Thurs. cleaning the crib, oof man. Will fold final load of laundry, then head to airport. Once C. is ensconced here at the crib, she can do all of this, and I can resume being a Macho. (NOT, man.)

Back on topic though - does anyone have a proper grill? Like in England where you open the oven door, select the grill option and then you have a grill pan and removable handle...? We don't have one and I don't know what equivalent there is without having yet another appliance to clutter up our tiny kitchen!!!

Dunno, man; there's uncertainty regarding a "celebration." Apparently, her country's post-wedding culture is to have a smallish family-type dinner, whereas ours is usually to have a big bash, si man. Mama T-Bone & I think that SOMEthing should be done, but on what scale? To complicate matters, C. is leaving it completely up to us, whereas my entire training (and past experience) is that the bride decides everything and the husband is a useless, even irritating, appendage. Ergothuswithforthly, the three of us are essentially standing around and looking blankly at each other, duh man. Advice?

And, this fits into the "strange things you're not used to" topic, but from the USC's standpoint. Ironic, si man.

Hahaha - well it all depends on what you want - we had a small wedding in February with about 17 people and afterwards we went and had a nice meal on the patio of a cafe - it was really nice Then we had a big evening reception in the UK for all the friends and family

Maybe you can have your wedding, however you decide to do it, then have a small but nice meal (ours was a three course one) then in the evening you can go out together or stay in a nice hotel room for a night or two and chillout and enjoy just being together after such a horrendous journey!

Hmmm... si, man. Actually, she has a cold from too many going-away parties plus the airline trip, and I'm hawking loogies from too much vacuuming, cough man, and it's nearly St. Patrick's Day and I've done nothing to prepare. I should dress in a costume and go door-to-door begging for candy, si man. That's how close we are to having any plans for a wedding, aargh man.

Getting back on the topic (shudder, man), C. says over and over how glad she is that this is NOT her first time in the U.S. -- she knows the language, how things operate, etc. Some of her countrywomen who are here for the first time go through terrible culture-shock, the language barrier, missing their families, awful homesickness, etc., oof man. This subject has been thoroughly covered in other threads, but it's worth mentioning. Interestingly, there are few or no clothes-dryers in Ecuador (everyone hangs stuff on clotheslines even in the cold rainy cities, brrr man), no automatic dishwashers (the husbands there are Machos and do no housework, no man), and -- meaning that I could never move there -- there is almost NO cat food sold except in the huge hypermarkets, and even in the ONE pet store that I saw in the whole country, there wasn't any of the premium diet food, miu man. Oh -- and there aren't electronic litterboxes in Ecuador, either, no man!

I miss it... we can use the 'broil' option on our oven, and it's better than nothing, but the only settings are 'hi' and 'lo', and it doesn't do that great a job
