Just read on the CR-1 and IR-1 the post from Ed and Chelsea that he just had his interview and received his visa.

While I am happy for them, it just irritates the ####### out of me, that immigrants from middle eastern nations, third world nations must wait months in AP while people from the EU and white bread countries get their visas within days.

I would like to inform you that you are wrong!.. Im from an EU country, and have been waiting since mid June 2006 for approval on k1 without success!... does that sound like days to you?..

So you have had your Consulate interview already??? And the Administrative Processing afterwards???

It doesn't show on your timeline....

I think they are more the exception than the rule.

I think they are the exception, not the rule....on getting their visa days after their interview.

I don't think there are exceptions or rules and that judgement comes from watching all the cases on VJ for the last 2 years. For the two years that I have been a member everyone always tries to pinpoint the reasons for delays.

Everyone thought that my husband and I would breeze right through the process because we are both Jordanian and both Christian. We went through 5 1/2 months of AP after the interview. They told me the reason for this delay was because of a trip he took to Syria back in 2002. The lady at the DOS told me there are red flags associated with anyone that travels to Iraq, Iran, or Syria. I have heard this also from other VJ members. I honestly don't think that it has anything to do with culture or religion. There has even been some speculation that the consular has already made up their mind about the visa before they even see the applicant. I don't think there is any truth to that even though it seems like it sometimes.

The few things I have noticed that have helped people getting through the embassy is having a secure job and if they obtained visas to other countries and have done a bit of traveling.

I was honestly kinda shocked when you mentioned the consular told you one month because he is from Iran and I dont think we have seen anyone on VJ go through that country that quickly. The consular told my husband we would get the visa in 3 weeks. I think the person you spoke to at the DOS gave you some realistic and sound advice.

My husband had never left Morocco, and I was a student - he got his visa the day after the interview with no AP. It's rare but it happens. Of course there is more scrutiny for ME men, it's the nature of American laws. It sucks and it might not be fair but there are plenty of cases of Europeans, South Americans etc that end up with long waits. As JP said no one has been able to pinpoint the reasons - it all seems pretty random to me.

May 11 '09 - Case Approved 10 yr card in the mail

June - 10 yr card recieved

Feb. 19, 2010 - N-400 Application sent to Phoenix Lockbox

April 3, 2010 - Biometrics

May 17,2010 - Citizenship Test - Minneapolis, MN

July 16, 2010- Retest (writing portion)

October 13, 2010 - Oath Ceremony

Journey Complete!
