Haha - I can't remember when we first met online but the day we first met in person was New Years Eve so I guess that is pretty memorable :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED

it was fairly easy.

we had to wait for an hour, but the interview as over in less than 10 minutes.

she didn't even want to see the cert. copy of the marriage cert.

she asked for pictures and stuff that we have in both names (like bank accounts).

the only thing that caused confusion was that my J1 visa and the two-year-residency-rule and other stuff connected to it.

and she wanted to see some pictures, but it was more of a "i'm curious, lets look at pictures".

I was really overprepared, but it was really easy. i asked for the stamp in my passport and got it, even though she said that the GC would be in the mail in 2 weeks.

anyway:

DONE WITH USCIS FOR 2 YEARS!!!!!!

we went to our favorite mexican restaurant to celebrate and I ate WAY tooooo much and feel really sick now.

Oh hun that's awesome!! I am soooo happy for you *hugs* Well... apart from the feeling sick part anyway

I was in the middle of writing my fears of tomorrow and the power cut out so I lost everything which is really annoying :( I start my volunteer work tomorrow and I am nervous, but moreso about the fact I am cycling a couple of miles when I have a) not been on a bike since I was a kid and B) have not braved the wrong-side-of-the-road thing. I know I will be fine and when I am there I will have a blast, but I will be glad when it is all done!!

And I am fed up that the pool is still not sorted out - AND the Mexican kids all go in there anyway, despite there being a big sign on the gate from Riverside County saying it is not to be used :( I swear, the Mexicans here really rule the place - don't get me wrong, they are lovely people when I have spoken to them, but you NEVER see any of the other neighbours... :(

Plus I think I need to learn Spanish

Aww thanks  It was kind of a big step - it's like I am finally living here instead of it being a holiday - part of me wanted to just not do it, but Jeremy worked really hard to find me something when I was going a little crazy and I felt obliged. I went to the orientation and everyone was really lovely so I am sure I will have a great time when I stop worrying!!!

I have a helmet *and* a lock for my bike :D Thing is my bike has crazy suspension stuff so the lock can't be attached to the frame like it should be - it will have to go in my backpack along with the ten gallons of water I am going to need to replace the fluids I sweat out because I am so unfit!!

Agnes - you surprise me, when you said you cycled to work I thought you were a pro!!! I feel a bit better now knowing you are getting on ok even though you didn't cycle for a while :) Still haven't seen what I look like in the helmet... am thinking that might be a good thing

It must be such a weird feeling to know that next time you have to do anything will be the last for a long time! And it's not even like K-1 where you know as soon as you move you have more paperwork in a few months - this is YEARS!!! Just make sure you don't forget!!!!

congratulations, Agnes :)

lovely to hear of an easy approval :)

and Aly, you'll have a great tine... just stop worrying and enjoy it :D

my experience - both here and elsewhere - with volunteering is that the people are usually SO happy and grateful to have the help, if you're halfway pleasant to be around and halfway competent they'll love you forever :D

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

CONGRATS AGNES. (hehehe...enjoying doing these congrats messages again!!)

Must feel so good to know you don't have to deal with USCIS for a matter of years now.

I'm looking after Nick's grandma today so I'll be on and off most of the morning. My eldest sister in law (I have 1 brother and 4 sister in laws) headed off to her first year in college this morning. My mother in law and brother in law gone with her to help her move in. She kept saying the only reason she isn't breaking down about leaving home is that she looks at me as inspiration. If I can leave all my friends, family and all that is familiar 5000 miles behind across an ocean, then she can move 2hrs drive away where she can come home when she wants and where she still knows a bunch of folk. I'm really proud of her, she's gone to do a double major in music and theatre studies. She has the most amazing voice and learned the song and sang at my wedding with 48hrs notice as my singer got broncitus. Grandma needs round the clock care and I think my moher in law does an amazing job, she is her full time carer and gets paid by grandma's insurance to do it rather than her go into hospice care.

It was great - the people were lovely and although I was a little (ok a fair bit  ) wobbly on my bike, I made it there and back in one pieces as well. The ride in was lovely at 7am but riding back at midday was hell on earth - I am SO not looking forward to doing that tomorro... I think more water is in order and more stops in between :) Plus my @ss is so sore it feels like I have been perching on a pole all day... which I kinda have... sorta...

There was one lady there who struck me as being a really snobby cow but then you can't have everything - she was talking about her 1100 sq ft home and how it always stays at 85f and if her friends from LA don't like it then they can just not visit as she wouldn't change the thermostat to suit them :o I thought it was rather rude tbh and didn't mention that we went out to buy a mister for outside for when our friends come to visit... of course it might only be sentiment as we haven't found an available water outlet outside... but we bought a hose too!! Might have to go through the window and tape over the gaps to stop bugs getting in - classy!!

Aww Debz - it is such a pity I am volunteering the next week - typical that when you are around for a change, everyone seems to disappear :( How are things going with you anyway? I know you just filed AOS this month and have bio coming up - how's your little place coming along? Is it beginning to feel like a home yet?

And Jeremy called me to let me know he will be home in time to make it to the PO - looks like we will be August AOS filers after all!!!

DONE WITH USCIS FOR 2 YEARS!!!!!!

Congratulations!! good to hear it's fairly uncomplicated. enjoy the next two years freedom from paperwork!

StP, I could probably compete on the small wedding front. Ours was much nicer then we ever expected. We were also one of the last couples to get married at our local county hall because the county clerk stopped solemnizing weddings to avoid having to marry gay couples. Crazy!

@aly: i just saw myself with the helmet on a few days ago. i avoided looking in the mirror with it, because i don't want to be tempted to leave it at home because i feel stupid. (and that would be stupid :) )

I was SOOO unfit when i started riding my bike to work, there aren't even words for it! when i first moved here as a student, i bought this crazy crappy walmart bike for 50 dollars, and i rode it for 2 years!

after moving here, i got a really nice bike, especially with the daily commute of 18 miles. now my bike looks like a pro, and i look like a looser on it, but - oh well :)

oh, btw, after not having electricity for 2 days, now we don't have water because the pipe on our front porch broke. sweet.

@ debz: i am so happy for you that your inlaws seem to be such amazing people!

I saw myself this morning and thought I looked like a real dork - I figured that as no-one here knows me it is prolly ok though - and Jeremy said I looked good anyway so

How long did it take you to stop getting such a sore @$$?!?!?!? Mine is KILLING me right now and I don't know how I am going to get on the bike again tomorrow!! At least Jeremy managed to change my saddle so I have one that is *supposedly* more comfy

Sucks about the water... for once our things are all ok but I don't want to tempt fate!!! We can't figure out any way to hook up the mister though so we might have to have the hose running through the house at our party!!!
