Raccaus: that looks like a pretty good explaination. It really does look like there is some correlation there... however slight. Honestly, I don't mean to sound bad or anything but I (usually) can see a difference between long and slow process times... like 60% of the time from VJ... Age difference is something I've noticed. And those I've met in person that were living together a while really seem to have it easy. Just what I saw. It's no fun either way.

Yoko: I'm definately NOT on the "normal" side of this, and am a very poor college student. BUT me and my GF are way more in love than anybody else... pretty much in the whole world...lol j/k...

peace,

I really want it to be a fair process for everyone, and me and mine have no problems at all waiting the months to be together, all seems fair enough really. But having said that, I have had dark evil thoughts like, ooh maybe we'll get through faster because my fiance's anglo, or because we've been together 7 years, stuff like that.

Six-nine months seems like nothing to us, we're used to it. I was lurking the forums yesterday though and looking at how long certain people took, and it did seem to me like a lot of people get their visa in about six months which makes me hopeful.

But about the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen was someone (sorry don't remember username) trying to get in from Palestine for like...over two years or something. My god :(

We're counting our blessings because it could be a heck of a lot worse.

I DID worry about us getting a flat-out rejection just because of how terrible we both look in our passport pictures. Don't want us breeding in the country

I disagree with the OP. I've been "into" this K1 process thing for a couple years now and I don't see any rhyme or reason with anything. We just finished up with the AOS process and it's the same thing there too.

We have to remember that we're working with people and I think that a lot of what happens with our petitions has to do with whose hands it's in.

But that is just IMHO.

My husband and I met in person, lived together in Brazil, dated for years before we got married, hubby came in on a K1 visa, and it STILL took 8 months for him to get his residency. There were people who were approved without an interview in 2 months.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Anglo meaning white, or Anglo meaning Scottish? There are plenty of 'white' applicants who go through slowly (Russia comes to mind), but I'm sure Scotland is pretty low-fraud and therefore faster. BTW being 1/8 Scottish, I think it's awesome that Scotland is listed as a separate country here. But off my soapbox... :)

The seven years' worth of relationship surely doesn't hurt, and I think that's reasonable. How many fraudulent applicants would be able to keep up appearances for seven years?

Some people say I'm easily distracted, but that's not... Hey! A squirrel!

Has anyone taken a gander at this helpful section of information? It may help you to understand the inner workings of the service centres (at least, the mindset of the adjudicators):

You know, really to get your I129-F approved, you need three things:

1. You need to have met in the last two years and be able to prove that.

2. You both need to be free to marry at the time of the filing.

3. You both intend to marry each other.

Beyond that, there's really nothing magical too it. All the other hoopla about fraud, length of relationship, and how much in love you are hasn't squat to getting the petition over to the consulate.

At the consulate some of these other factors will come into play.

The color of your skin hasn't anything to do with it either. Some countries have a higher incident of marriage fraud and some countries are on a list of enemy nations. It might interest you to note that the birth citizens of many of these nations are known as 'caucasians'. To conjecture your petition might get through faster because you are white as bread is deluding yourself.

I agree.

Plus, who is to say that the person who will approve/deny your petition is not as white as bread....

I don't actually want us to get through faster/hope that we'd get through faster because my fiance's white and english-as-a-1st-language (what I meant by anglo). I think it'd really suck and be horrible if that were the way the system actually worked. I'm just saying, it HAS crossed my mind and there are those who'd be cynical enough to think the country's immigration policy works like that.

But yeh, Iain's from Scotland, so I feel personally lucky to think that most likely, no red flags are gonna be raised with that issue. But really looking at the wait-time of everyone's visa approval and everything, it looks like there really aren't any superficial prejudices going on, so that's awesome.

I keep having the image of 2 polar opposite sort of adjucators: a really sweet little old school-teacher sort of woman who goes 'that's precious' and eats hard candy all day, and a really disgruntled middle aged bitter man who goes 'rargh' and sends RFEs for like...everything ever.

Sorry guys, wasn't meaning to offend.
