Ok, so it's Friday and I don't want to be at work, and I'm missing my fiance somethin' terrible. So I decided to start this thread.

I want to know what things you think about your fiance when you miss him/her. Like is there a particular trait they have that you love? Or is there something SUPER cute that they do for you that makes you smile? Is there something about them that just makes your heart melt? What do you think about to help you when you miss them?

I'll go first (since I'm posting the topic).

There are so many things I love about him, but the one that's sticking out right now is that he tells me I can call him anytime. And when I've had a really busy day and can't call him until I get home from work, he STILL answers the phone and will talk to me for like an hour. Even when it's 2 or 3am for him.

Maybe it seems silly, but it just melts my heart that he will wake up in the middle of the night, just to talk to me.

I like that too Queen Jenn. No matter what time it is, he always talks with me and will get up and go to a café if I sound sad to cheer me up. The past few days I’ve been missing him something horrible as well. I called him early this morning before morning prayers cause he was heavy on my mind.

My memory of Bassi that always makes me smile: Bassi looks mean and scary. He never smiled in pictures and I told him if I saw him coming down the road, I’d cross to the other side. But I know him so well after all these years and I know that he’s a teddy bear inside. I told him that he’s like Sampson because he’s big and strong and scary, but he’s got a weak spot and I’ve found it. So whenever he’s looking mean, I say Hey Sampson! And he always bursts out a smile and laughs. I love the way his whole face changes when he laughs. Then he’s my teddy bear again.

Thanks for this Jenn

Well, there are too many to mention but the one thing that I miss the most is his touch. I don't think there was a time when we were together that we were not touching in some way whether it was just holding his hand or him putting his arms around me when we were waiting for a taxi or trotro.

For me it was a pleasant adjustment becuase I am not a touchy feely person but now I miss it

You calling him Sampson reminded me of something that makes me laugh. My dad calls my fiance "Isaac" because he had to go to a far off land to get a wife

Ooooh, I know what you mean about that. My fiance was always holding my hand or putting his arm around me, too. And I AM a touchy feely person, so I for sure miss it now, too. But hey, just think, it may be several months before you're together again, but then you get to be touchy-feely for YEARS and YEARS and YEARS. ;)

Although my husband is here, I used to also love the fact that no matter what time I called him - he always made time to talk with me.

I hope that your SO's arrive soon.

Boaz

Thanks!! We hope so, too - right girls???

I, too, love that about my fiance.....that he will let me call whenever I want and he will gladly wake up or drop everything to talk to me. I kud go on and on about the sweet things he does. But when I miss him I go to my camera. It records video as well as takes pics so there are videos of him on there talking to me (the camera). When I went there, I stayed for several of the weeks at his home with his family (Mama, Baba, and siblings). They don't have running water that comes into the house, you must get it from the tap inside the compound. To take a 'bath', is simply to go get a bucket of water and then stand in a concrete room and wash yourself. He always would be so attentive and get the water for me etc...(despite my telling him I was capable of doing it myself). I was recording him on the video one day getting the water. I caught him off guard.....He looked straight into the cam and said he's going to 'whip my yansh' !!! I dropped the cam and started running while he chased me with the water. Now, when I look at it on the cam, I laugh hysterically.(L)

I am a touchy feely person too. It's a different touch. I have a little girl. She has a bit of a hard time adjusting to someone else "loving" mommy the way she does. When she would see us holding hands, she would squeeze between us and look up at us. She had a hard time trusting men with me because her dad often made me cry. So she didn't feel that anyone could keep me safe but her and grandma. I knew when she first trusted Bassi because after one of their phone conversations she told me God answered her prayers and sent someone to take care of mommy cause mommy always takes care of everyone and no one takes care of her. I was happy that her little mind was finally at rest.

I love that! I wish I had thought of making videos with my phone while I was there. I put it away and we used his phone the whole time. So I don't even have pics in my phone. They are all in his phone. He always tells me how he looks at it. I nearly killed him when I found out he had taken pics of me sleeping. He said they make him feel happy. Why would pics of me sleeping make him happy? I definitely found Sampson's weak spot.

This Thread made me cry... Thanks for making my mind go back to very happy times. My Gabriel does so many wonderful things, it was hard to pick just one. But I love his calming voice no matter what is going on with me his voice calms me, it's so deep and sexy , Gabriel's pretty tall and medium weight, I think he intimidates people, he didn't smile much but when he was around me he smiled most of the time. When we started exchanging photo's I asked him did he have any teeth, because I never saw them. I really made him laugh. He always tells me He loves me but God loves me so much more, and he always ends our phone conversation with keep looking beautiful, until one day I looked in the mirror and I saw myself beautiful...

I'm a touchy-feely person too and Matt loves to cuddle and I really miss that.

First, I miss him lying next to me in the bed, holding me and then asking me if I am alright....

Next, I miss all the attention he gives me. Matt is very self-sufficient. He cooks, cleans, washes, etc. When I was visiting he automatically wanted to do these things for me too. I was so impressed (and yes, I cooked for him too). Also, one day we were on the bus and he told me to hold on to the rails so I wouldn't fall and I said to him, I'm not a child...I know to hold on to the rails. We both just started laughing. He is always looking after me and I LOVE IT!

Next, I miss all the playful moments we shared. We can be so silly at times and we both love to laugh.

Lastly, I miss the way he looks at me. He says my name softly, looks at me with those bedroom eyes, and then asks me a question.

I can't wait until I see my sweetheart again........... :(

 These are all so sweet. Reading these posts helps remind me of some of the reasons I fell in love, and why I continue to be in love with my husband.

Exactly. Each day I love him more than the day before. I had no idea I could love someone so much.

When I went to meet Jospeh it seems his cousin here that introduced us set the boundries for everything that happened. One of his rules was that I was to be kept safe. He interupted that as not walking on public streets . ( For those that know Nigerian drivers you can see why this happened ) I kept on asking to go for walks and he kept having reasons not to . When we were in Enugu meeting family his sister taught me a word that roughly means stubburn. So now we each accuse each other of being that . I don't the spelling but it sounds like E C K .

Another episode that is charming is the first couple of days he put me up in a guest house . It provided hot water and AC while we met and made sure things were good. One day I came back tired from the roads so I filled the tub and happened to have some bubble bath with me . Now here is this 40 year old that has never seen a bubble bath. He was like a kid and had to have a bubble bath. He still keeps talking about having bubble baths when he gets here.
