Congratulations to you and yours. Yes, Montreal is a breeze. We had ours April 5, I did put a thread in here about it but I've got to put it in the Reveiw section also. So much to do. We crossed over on April 18 without a hitch. Good luck on the rest of your journey............................(((((HUGS)))))

hey melliemel!

I read your Montreal experience... You mentioned, that you were denied entry to the US........ I'm asking because, I was denied too, in Dec of 2004 and since then I have not crossed the border... What happened was, I was going on a vacation with my fiance from Toronto to Chicago, crossing by his car in Windsor/Detroit and they said at the border, that I don't have enough money in my account, that probably my work did not give me this time off, they were even speculating if I live where I did at that time(Toronto)... So they denied me, told my fiance that he's 'smuggling' me across the border (I am Canadian), basically they made me feel like a criminal.... since then we applied for the k1 visa and the Montreal interview is just about to come........ in one of the forms 156(k) it says "if u ever were denied entry to the US" how am I gonna explain that to them??????? that's one of my biggest worries/concerns when it comes to that interview(besides the wait time)

thx

take care

Hi Elunia,

Have you ever tried to cross after this experience? Did they tell you that you were not allowed to ever enter the US again?

When I was denied it was basically for the same reason. No ties to my home country. But then again, I was told by the officer that I could try again another day and I would be fine. They just could not let me in that day. (I know that confused me too.)

My advise to you when you are writing your explaination is to tell the truth. Write it just they way it happened. The explaination that you gave above is good enough.

Don't be too worried. I think everything will be fine regarding your denial because it was not really that serious. They just caught you in a bad spot. If you had evidence of ties to Canada they would not have been able to deny you. Every time I crossed there after, I always took something with me. Ususally my job letter stating that I work there and am suppose to return to work on a specific day. I never had to use it but at least I had it.

Good luck, I am sure all will be well.

Mellie

hey Mellie!

no I've never tried to cross the border after that.. They said at the border that this is only temporary until I have $xxxx in my checking account, letter from employer, letter from my landlord, etc, and then I can cross the border no problem... but since now I'm doing this k1 visa, this is the LEGAL way for them to cross the border I guess???? I guess that was the evidence of ties to Canada that they were looking for.........

thx
