Dealing with USCIS Customer Service

Hello,

To make a long story short, I am at my wit's end and open to any suggestions on how to deal with the USCIS customer service. When I am asked for the reason I am calling when I am finally able to get through their automated system, I always tell them that I am just wondering about my case and if I had missed an RFE sent through the mail. Any other suggestions that might get some action from these guys?

As you can see by our timeline that our I-130 is over the 6 month time frame, yet when I call USCIS I am just told to be patient. When I point out cases at CSC that were filed after ours that have been approved already, I am just told that the ppl reporting these cases are lying or fudging on their dates.. Someone had posted on here that they had called and gotten a WTC number from the customer service rep and a week later his petitions had been approved. When I asked if there were anyway that I could get a WTC number they told me that it was only a reference number for a case that was outside the processing time, when I pointed out that our I-130 was outside the processing time, she quickly added that 30 days to the expected 6 month time frame. In other words I would not be able to get a WTC number until after 6 months + 30 days.

When I ask if there is any RFE that I had not received, they say no. When I ask if it is delayed in the background or the name check, they just say no and to be patient.

Most of the reps are polite but there has been the one that was pretty rude and point blank told me not to bother calling until after they are outside the supposed time frames.

I have contacted 2 senators and 1 congressman to make inquiries into our case, I received a letter back from 1 senator saying they would look into it. I received a phone call from the congressmans liaison telling me that he would make an inquiry into it, that was on Dec 17th. I have to call him back tomorrow when their offices are back from the holidays to see if he has found anything out.

So much for my keeping it short, Sorry everyone

ChristineJohn,

I too had many problems with CUstomer Service and they told me the same thing about the other cases that filed after me. On December 6 I contacted two Senators and my Congresswoman..... One Senator has still not gotten to it, The other Senator is studying my case and will make an inquiry by the first week of Jan and the Congresswoman made an inquiry on Dec 28. Also on Dec 6 sent the CIS Ombudsman DHS Form 7001 (CIS Ombudsman Case Problem Submission Form) via cerified mail.

Now.... I received a reply from the Ombudsman office on Dec 12 telling me they would look into my case. On Dec 13 I was approved, I received a follow up letter from the Ombudsman office dated Dec 19 telling me that my case was reviewed and was adjucated.

Funny... I called my elected officials on Dec 27 to tell them not to bother as I was already adjucated... and I received a happy holiday... and they are going to work on it... one told me to be patient before they get to my case... all in true political fashion giving me an answer before I could notify them......

Tell me please what is WTC number ?

Hello Syadira,

The WTC number is a referral number that is given once you submit a referral through either a congressman or over the phone. I was able to create one over the phone on Dec 26th. My case has been beyond the 6 month period. The first few times I called they said I could not create a WTC unless its been 6 months + 30 days. But on Dec 26th, there was this nice lady who transferred me over to someone with whom I could file a WTC. I think it's the same whether you go through a congressman or over the phone. My $0.02...

just to make you laugh or cry. uscis takes LOTS of patience to deal with.

i called uscis today just to double check on the info on my status that they gave me when i called on last friday (i was told by an operator that my case shipped to nvc on dec. 21st). knowing that they are disorganized, i wanted TO MAKE SURE that my case was indeed shipped on 21st to nvc.

well, the lady that answered my call at uscis today told me that once I-129f gets approved, it's not longer with them and that they don't have any info. she said that i need to allow 2-4 weeks (up to 90 days) and to call nvc.

someone is smoking something, but not sharing! :help:

patience, patience, patience!

  • 3 weeks later...

To the one who posted this, They are currently working on June 18, 2007 and they said it means not all applications filed on june 18, 2007 have been completed it just means one of them has been touched and they cant inform us any further. Im waiting to be sent to NVC I was approved after 7-8 months waiting. Hope I enlightened you a bit.

Next time you call in why dont you mention beforehand you are late on processing and tell them you will visit your wife or husband if its going to take more than 1 month or something to get a form maybe they'll give you an estimate or what not
