I dont know if this is normal but it's been almost 2 months since Nov 12 that NVC said they sent out DS-230 and I haven't received it yet. So I called them and asked y is taking so long and they said the document returned back to them for whatever reasons so they said we sent it back on December 13, and I'm still waiting for ittt. So I guess is useless to wait more time for the document to be here. They said u can download the form DS-230 from the website and for the bacode sheet u have to wait for them.

My question is if I use Jamie's shortcut for the barcode coversheet do I use the second date(Dec 13) that they sent it out again or the first date Nov 12?

And pls anybody who knows what do you do with those barcodes the one on the top and the one on the bottom, what size should they be changed to and how do u change it? plzzzzzzzzz someone tell me or show me I would really appreciate it :))

As long as you're sure they have said they mailed you the DS-230 coversheet, you can make your own following James' shortcuts. The dates on them are irrelevant as long as you have the bar code and case # correct.

yes thnx but does anybody have any clue if u change the barcodes or not ????

If you change the barcodes on the DS-230 sample? I don't understand your question.

If you decide to use James' shortcuts to generate your own DS-230 coversheet, you will have to change the case #, barcode and personal information to yours because the ones that are already there are just sample #s he used. The shortcuts show you how to generate your own barcode and how to paste it on the DS-230 coversheet.

No no I was talking about the coversheet that goes with DS-230, the two barcodes one on the top and the other on the bottom, I dont know if they have to be the same size as they are or one smaller or bigger than the other. Can someone tell me or show me pls??

And for the [Agent Name] is it all capital and the Name goes first then the last name? And for the [beneficiary Name] the same thing as well?

The upper one is smaller. I believe that is only used when mailing the document to you. It is visible through the window of the envelope they use, so it can be scanned from outside (for sorting and tracking purposes). I think that one can be left out when you generate the cover sheet (either remove it or change it to your case number). The lower, larger bar code is more important, most likely that is the one they will scan ones they receive it from you.

Zil, so u're saying that the upper barcode isn't important like can I just live it as it is b/c if I remove it they'll recognize it don't u think? But if you need to change any of the 2 barcodes how do u use it?

The lower barcode, if needs to be changed do u know if there is a specific size that it should be, or why not live it as it is?

Hi una,

Below is a graphic of the actual DS-230 cover sheet for your reference.

Zil is probably right, you probably don't have to change the upper barcode, everyone else normally does, from what I have heard, but it is up to you.

As for the sizing, just do the best you can, get it as close as possible to how it looks in the real coversheet below and close to how it appears in James's shortcuts.

To change the size you can normally, in Word, hover your mouse over 1 corner of the graphic and drag it in or out (I think that is what you are asking?)
