and think of how much violent crime would be stopped if they just legalized it nationally.

i'm failing to see the connection.....

For real? Ok well here and now it's illegal right? Which means that people have to smuggle it in. Lots of crime right there since you have to be protected physically, i.e. guns, if you're gonna be in that kind of work. And since it's illegal it's not obviously sold in stores so you have to have some pretty unsavory characters willing to go against the law to sell it ... and they need protection, etc. etc.

If it were legal, people could just grow their own or at least buy it from a reputable farm or something and they wouldn't worry about dealing with people who may or may not be packin' heat, etc.

And the worst part about it is that a LOT of the people who use it don't do so to just get high, they do it because it's the only medicine their stomachs/systems can tolerate. . . . so they have to endanger themselves in order to get it unless they live in a state where they can get a medical marijuana card.

i'm still not seeing it. just because it's legalized that does not mean people can grow it nor does it mean they won't commit crimes to be able to buy it......

I don't get your confusion. If someone has a medical marijuana card in a state where it is legalized that gives them the legal ability to grow it which means they don't have to go underground to buy it off of a dealer on the street. As far as committing crimes to be able to buy it, if it's legalized they can just go to a shop to get it, they won't be committing a crime, unless you mean they'd steal to get the money which could apply to someone trying to buy alcohol as well.

I wasn't posting a statistic that needs to be linked. I was merely stating a fact based on what I see both on the web and in real life. I had three friends in the past five years who died of cancer and the only thing that stopped the pain and the vomiting was weed. I know a ton of people with various disabilities such as MS, arthritis, Lupus, etc. because of support groups that I belong to who also use it because it doesn't give them the god-awful side effects that nsaids give.

For sure there are kids that use it to get high but I would venture a guess just as many use alcohol for the same purpose and that's legal.

People can grow, steal, buy tobacco. How many stories do you see where an old woman is mugged to buy tobacco?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
