Do you know what is LEGAL? It's perfectly legal to adjust status from another visa type if the marriage to a USC is bonafide.

You people kill me. You are so wrapped up in your venom you don't even know the laws you supposedly promote.

I'll add ..

Anyone who is a tourist, K-1, H-1 ... or whatever visa type should know what the requirements are to keep legal ... and leave when their visa has expired or the length of stay is over.

There are legal paths to extend a visitor stay (we've done it) and it's not difficult ... just provide a solid reason in the request for an extended stay and live by the answer given by USCIS (the person will be sent a new I-94 with new validity dates).

I love that! Keep doing it!

Aww .... rebeccajo ... the patronization is a hoot ...

I'm not sure how you got to the above comment from the quotes posted in your response. The conversation was mostly about illegals and morality ... not to "adjust status from another visa type".

I got the above from reading the above. Read before you hit enter.

Aww ... here we go again ....

It's about keeping legal .. if you already are. So ... let's try this again ... the conversation at the time was mostly about illegals and morality ... and visa over stays ... not to "adjust status from another visa type".

Please highlight in the above quote you provided where I specifically mentioned "adjusting for marriage" (I intentionally omitted these words due to the nature of the conversation at that moment). Looks like you've taken a cherry pick'in on my words and have injected your own.

You're right. You didn't say it.

The conversation also had some inferences in it to adjusting based upon marriage. I got carried away.

Ah. Life according to LisaD.

I have my beliefs about immigration and I belong to and have donated to an organization who has a real lobbyist who can and is effecting real change. I don't just sit here and post - over and over again - the same agenda. I believe those who feel strongly on either side of the fence should do the same.

I support charitable causes throughout the year in ways that I am able to do so - sometimes financially but usually otherwise. I believe anyone who has the least bit of blessings should do the same.

And I really don't give a healthy $hit what you think of me or my posts, Lisa. We all know it hasn't got anything to do with what I say but because I said it. We've all seen the cat chasing it's tail enough times to recognize the pattern.

Oh...about that judgment thing? Got a mirror?

You've missed the point completely. You don't have the first clue what peejay does irl, yet you're sermonizing about how he should do things outside of posting on vj. You ask GEG who 'died and made her God' or somesuch because she said she places moral judgments on what people do....yet you do the exact same all while polishing your halo and patting yourself on the back. And if you're truly 'so tired' of these threads, then don't participate!

And yes, it has everything to do with your posts and is not personal. For me to hold a grudge would mean you matter, which you don't. So there's no need for you read into anything...I'm simply pointing out the flaws in your argument.

The flaws. In your opinion.

More judgments.

Table for one?

Oh, and if I don't matter, then don't patronize me by wishing me a Merry Christmas. Phony cow.

I'm not the one telling people not to make judgments. Or preaching about other people's 'venom'. That's you.

I actually did man 'have a Merry Christmas'. How pathetic can one be to wish ill of strangers?

Your lashing out at me is nothing surprising...hope the mods/admin doesn't remove this one like that time you completely lost your rag.

Yes...... I can see why people think Jesus is the reason for the season. I can see why they want to keep the "Christ" in Christmas.... I'm pretty sure that Jesus said "Those who shall be with me in Heaven shall run any topic into the ground, debate every silly thing possible, call each other names, and just generally be petty."

I so love the Holiday Spirit!

Happy YULE to everyone.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

99% of the illegals I know have higher moral values than the US Citizens I know.

I hate to be harsh, but that doesn't bode well for any of the people you associate with.

Merry Christmas to you again, peejay.

And a Happy New Year!

I know you don't agree with my point of view or my posts, but I don't take it personal nor do I hold any ill will toward you. I have a thick skin and strong shoulders...so lay it on. I wouldn't post my views if I didn't believe I was right. Apparently my posts have been on target or you wouldn't be singling me out of the rest of the crowd. Unfortunately a lot of what goes on in our country is imposed without public oversight. Ignorance is bliss. The less ignorant our country is...the better off we all are IMO. Unfortunately there are some that would prefer ignorance. That way THEY get what THEY want without any opposition.

You do not have to agree with me nor do you have to read my posts. Whether I have my say on VJ is dictated by ToS. But I can assure you that I do a lot more in regards to this subject than just post on VJ.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Actually, when I came on you had just posted two different threads about the same subject. So I wasn't singling you out - I just noticed a repeat of a similar pattern.

Here's the point I'd like to make. I don't vehemenently disagree with you. Sure, I don't agree with all your opinions. The world would be BORING if we all agreed. I'm not a supporter of illegal entry and I don't think those who post along with me are.

There was a thread here yesterday about workplace enforcement. I forget the political term applied to the social phenomen the article says is occuring - illegal entrants returning 'home' because they can't find work in the US. The point of the article is that many 'amnesty' groups don't like this phenomen. Well, that may be the case but it isn't the case with me, and it probably isn't the case with many people who have studied the subject. I have long maintained that if normal economic patterns were allowed to work themselves out on normal human beings, the 'weaker' immigrants would return home and the 'strong' would stay here. If workplace enforcement is part of the equation, then so be it. The only 'negative' I see to workplace enforcement is that over time, we as USC's might likely be asked to produce a document to prove who we are also - say a birth certificate. That prospect doesn't particularly thrill me, but our society is more and more invasive all the time, so I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't come to pass as a side result of us trying to deter illegal employment.

What upsets me is the constant clanging of the gong regarding 'illegals' as if they were some particular breed of undesireables. I believe that as each of us has a story, each person who stands at arms-length with the Department of Homeland Security has a story also. It's actually that simple with me and the continual drum of 'send them home packing' is grossly unfair, in my opinion.

On VJ, I think you find an easy audience for arguments against illegals. What you have on hand is a bunch of people who are pi$$ed off at the service anyway. Pi$$ed off for paying fees, long delays, invasions of their private life. It's easy to whoop them up into a frenzy over other people who are 'getting away' with living in America without going through the system. Illegals are hardly 'getting away' with anything. They live in the shadows. Our spouses don't.

I think if you feel strongly about this, then you should be doing more than posting in this community. That's what our constitution was written for, and that's something as an American I am proud of. In my own case, I was careful to select an organization that is working for the good of legal entrants, rather than 'against' those here illegally. That just happens to be the way I'd rather approach the problem - hopefully if the Service and laws work better, the need to enter illegally will eventually end.
