Try SafeAuto and Safeco. I also had Safeway, but they lied to me  so I can't honestly recommend them.

Geico was waaay to expensive for me!

That's funny. Safeway's a grocery store in Canada. ^_^

Western US too-that is funny

LOL. Maybe that was their lie.... "No, honestly. We DO sell car insurance. Hold please..... Clean-up on Aisle 5.... clean-up. Now where were we? Oh yes, car insurance. It's right next to the tripe."

We were on State Farm and just recently switched to Geico.. it honestly saved us 30% on our car insurance..

Biggest difference I see is cost for liability insurance. I don't think you can get million dollar liability here, or if you can it would cost so much no one would.. at least that's what hubby says.. We carry very little insurance.. just enough to be legal, which scares the beegebers out of me, but we pay SOOO much for it!!

You can be added to hubby's policy at any time.. We just added me when I got here in the US and we were "official" like.

Actually when I saw my husband's limits i was like OMG!!! I called State Farm who he is insured with, and uped them to $1 million liability. It's the highest that office could write and needed management approval, but they did it. I think that they had no idea they could to be honest.

It's worth the piece of mind, in my opinion...

I have Progressive. $74/month, I pay monthly. Full coverage including collision, glass, theft, etc. I called and told them I was married and updated my address and my rates went down from $79/month to $72/month although since hubby doesnt live here and doesn't have a U.S. license, he is not covered on the policy, but that's ok.

I owned a mini van for a short time in Toronto where I had to pay $120/month just for liability. They even took my prior U.S. insurance experience and driving history into account. What a rip off.
