Almost had a BREAKDOWN today...

Happying into my third day of having sent the application. Organizing the photocopies of the sent application, and I suddenly saw a mistake on the I-129F application. I had put down my first name for both spaces that were for last name and first name (meaning my first name is my first name, my last name is still my first name).

I instantly broken down... and then I checked the G325 form, then saw only last name on the I-129F is wrong. Yet the I-129F is the first application they would see, and that's what they would enter data based on, right?

I almost wanted to cry... yes, it's a bit over dramatic. But I was really worry that this is going to slow down the expected slow case. The whole process of getting my fiance from china is already ridiculously long. I waited and waited before I become a citizen. I finally filed, entered the real waiting game. And even after I get NOA2, there will be another 4-7 months for the actual interview to take place... So I call the 1(800) number, since that's all I am able to find. btw, is there a phone number for the service center? or other way of contacting them?...

The 1(800) staff told me to just wait for the notice and I call them back again then, so they can put in a request to change the typo. She also said if I want I can write them a letter about it, which is what I did today. I didn't even know what to say in the letter, is very informal, is just a letter stating the typo mistake, and ask them to corrected for me. I rush to sent it to try to get there ASAP.

Will this confuse them. What should I do? What will happen?any suggestion?

Thanks!!

I don't think this will be a huge deal, they will just send you a Request for Evidence (RFE). My RFE only slowed my application down almost a month. The letter you sent them may take care of it, but I wouldn't expect this to cause a huge delay in processing your case. Poeple make errors on forms all the time :) When I first sent mine, I filled out the check for payment incorrectly. They sent me a RFE and I resent the check, no big deal.

At this point because you don't even have a NOA1 yet....the letter you just wrote will more than likely be lost and be a wasted effort on your part. When your app. is received and the preliminary data is entred in the system, the NOA1 is generated and mailed. That is when your application starts to exist as far as USCIS is concerned. Once that occurs, and you have a case number you want to make sure to call and have the mistake corrected. If you have written all other information correctly, especially your address, you will receive a NOA1 letter with 2 first names. Then you call the 1800 number and correct your mistake. I'm afraid at this point your best bet is to wait for your NOA1 and be ready to contact them once you get that.

Good luck,

-P
