Received a call from an IO - Oath ceremony

My interview was Feb 14. Received the oath letter ceremony Feb 20 scheduled for March 2nd. Thursday last week Feb 22 I received a call from an IO not the IO that interviewed me stating that they had to reschedule my Oath ceremony because there is no spot for me for the March 2nd. The IO knew my name and the date I was interviewed. I took the information he gave me on when it's rescheduled, the location and time. He then said he is sending the new letter that day but until now I still haven't received it. So it made me think/worry was it a scam?  

I called immigration and they could not give me anything to help me figure it out since my case still says scheduled for interview. So I'm deciding to show up tomorrow for the ceremony and see if they tell me my name is not on the list if there is a list. I'd rather be safe than sorry?

Anyone ever had their ceremony rescheduled by phone?

Go with what's in the letter.  If you get turned down, you can always go back.  On the other hand, if you miss the ceremony and have no paper trail, you're screwed.

What field office? Mine was Fresno field office. I hope you receive yours soon.

Update: my name was not on the list and since I had the N445 they took me in. Added my name on the list. I was able to take the Oath. I will just have to wait for my certificate to be mailed to me.

02-23-2018: Sent N-400 Application online

02-23-2018: Date on NOA, retrieved from online account

02-23-2018: Date on Biometrics Appointment Letter (Biometrics Appointment at Jacksonville ASC on March 13, 10:00 a.m.)

03-08-2018: Biometrics complete

04-05-2018: Case status updated - Interview Scheduled on May 10, 2018, 10:15 a.m. :D

05-10-2018: Citizenship Interview - Passed English and Civics Tests, Recommended for Approval! :D 

06-19-2018: Received email and text notification: Naturalization Ceremony Scheduled; waited for letter to be uploaded on online account - it has been set on Wednesday, July 25, 3:00 p.m.

07-25-2018: I am now a U.S. Citizen!
