What to expect during a parent naturalization interview?

My mother is going for her interview soon, and is really nervous as she doesn't know what to expect. There is no clear guidance from USCIS on the documents that are required (unlike a spouse naturalization process), and she doesn't know what kind of questions to expect. Can someone shed some light on it? It would really help to make her more comfortable :)

I dont know what a spouse naturalization is, but i naturalized from being a 5 year gc resident and while it was nerve wracking, it really was straight forward. I didn't bring anything except my green card, passport,  drivers license.

I made sure i knew all answers to the 100 questions on the civil test. Especially who my politicians are.

The interview lasted like 10 minutes. She asked me who the president was, and 3 more questions. I forgot,  its been 2 years.

She made me read a sentence In english and made me write the same thing.

She went through my file stamped the date and i signed then we shook hands she told me that she recommends it to be approved then i went home and waited for my oath.

the main goal is that she is able to show that you received your citizenship legally - since you are petitioning for her.

what I have seen on here were instances where the person interviewed was asked for proof that related to the petitioner's immigration journey - a parent had to obtain proof that the child that had brought him ( the parent to the US) had worked for the company that initially sponsored him....

so the best way would be for her to also know your full immigration timeline so that when they ask questions she can answer them clearly .

  • sending I130 05/16/2007
  • cheque is cashed on 06/11/2007
  • NOA1 in mail 06/13/2007 (who said 13 is badluck )
  • 07/30/2007 After no touches and no other signs we just got an email with the APPROVAL of I130....Thank God !....now what ?

  • 08/07/2007 Case received by NVC and case number assigned :))

  • 08/13/2007 DS3032 and AOS bill were generated

  • 08/14/2007 Emailed choice of agent ...i'm so curious when they will accept it...hopefully soon

  • 08/21/2007 DS3032 and AOS fee bill arive in mail

  • 08/27/2007 paid AOS fee bill
  • 8/28/2007 DS3032 choice of agent accepted
  • 9/3/2007 IV fee bill generated
