O1 Visa Security Checks

Hi, i'm in the process of getting my O1 visa as a graphic designer, along with my assistant as an O2, and my petition has been delayed extremely. I'm into 10th month in regular processing. I have inquired USCIS and they said that my case is going through security checks right now, is that a good sign? i'm in India. I was suppose to start my first project this August, so i'm already more than 3 months late. Me and my lawyer are thinking about upgrading to premium processing, cause who knows how long will the petition take to approve in regular processing. Is it the right decision? Does premium processing effect the outcome of the petition in any bad way? And has anyone else experienced this much of a extreme delay?

Thanks

AP can not be speeded up, surprised your Lawyer does not know that.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Security checks are not conducted by USCIS, but probably the consulate, DHS, or something of the sort. Maybe you have a name similar to someone on a black list (there is someone on VJ who is having that problem) or something of your background does not add up to them. It has been known to happen.

It is impossible to know when your visa will be ready, unfortunately.
