AOS and Work Permit Taking Too Long

Hello Folks:

 

My wife is filing for the AOS and Work Permit, but we had a mishap with the post office and we updated our address w/ USCIS, but it seemed to delay the feds a little bit, and we made an appointment with USCIS and they told us to get back to them in 4 weeks if nothing happens.  So guess what?  Nothing has happened, so how long do these people take?

When did you file for AOS + the EAD? Did you get an RFE or RFIE?

AOS is taking anywhere form 4-12+ months depending on the local office.

The EAD is taking 4 months or so on average right now.

Thanks for the quick reply, she applied in Houston, we got something in the mail from them about 2 months later but our mailman was incompetent and we did not get the notice in the mail, so we filed a change of address and met with USCIS.  Then they said wait 4 weeks.

Do you atleast know your reciept numbers? If so you can track your case here (if it's working) https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do 

I'd definitely suggest giving them a call or fill out their online form. All the info is here: https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/while-application-is-pending  I wouldn't leave it too too long as they could mark it as abandoned; although it sounds like they're at least aware of your situation. AoS Filers usually get the receipts by mail within 3 weeks of filing, and biometrics appointment a week or so after that, then it's a few months wait usually for an interview and a bit longer for final processing. The EAD/AP as Geowrian said, usually take about 4 months.
