Received SSN but very confused of how they put my fiancee name on.

She just got her SSN card in mail but we were surprised that they put down her 2 of 3 latina first names into middle name on card. She is from Peru and Peruvian do not have middle name. Her full name is Sue Vilma Irma Silva Sanchez(fake name for confidential). First name is Sue Vilma Irma and last name is Silva Sanchez. But on her SSN card they put down her name as Sue Vilma Irma Silva Frank. Sue as her first name, Vilma Silva as her middle name, and Frank as her marriage last name(my last name). I asked the SS staff that this is not right and she said there is no other way. I was confused. Does this happen to latinos people from other country received name like that on card? I am worry that I need to fill out AOS forms and I do not know which name I should follow? Sue Vilma Irma as her first name, Silva Sanchez as her middle name, and Frank as her last name or I need to follow her SSN name?

My latino husband has two first names and two last names on his social security card; we had no problems with that. They told us that we MUST follow what the SS card says for job verification, credit card applications, etc. If they won't correct it (though I would go to the office again and try to explain), I would follow what is on the card.

 

It's really not a problem if you put down her second names as middle names, though. My husband and I almost wish we would have done that because it's sometimes difficult for us for banking, etc.

Ok thank you. So to fill a form on UCIS for AOS, we will have to use her SSN name on any form to apply, banking, job verification, etc as first name: Sue, middle name: Vilma Irma, and last name: Frank?

There's also a maximum limit on the number of characters (26 per line). So they sometimes cut off part of a name to make it fit.

"Neither the first or last names shown on the SSN card should be reduced in length, unless it exceeds the 26-character limit. Therefore, omit middle names, middle initials, and suffixes if they prevent you from showing as many characters as possible for the first and last names. "

 

Edit: For things like AOS, use the full names as shown on the passport/visa (or with a married name, use that). For things like bank accounts and such, they may need to go by what's on the card.
