My fiance was told she must do 3 day spectrum test. My question is " will they know positive or negative by day 3 as I have been told?

I was told by Agency I paid a lot of money that day 3 they give results?

I have spent hours researching ! This is such a sad delay as her interview was Sept 5 , but her spectrum test Sept 4,5,6

I also see 2 month wait for results ?

Please help us clarify as even our paid council gives us mixed answers.

Thanks, Larry & Mira

Thanks !

But Why have another interview after 3 spectrum test if outcome known?

And who may know the cost of everything involved , or is it included in charge paid already?

I don't understand your question. If she is sputum testing you will not know the results for 8 weeks unless she has TB then you may know sooner than 8 weeks. There is no additional cost as far as slec is concerned.

Who said she needs another interview?  The Sputum tests are done over a 3 day period.  She has to provide a sample on each of 3 days.  If it is positive result, that will be known in a few days.  However, you still need to wait for 8 weeks for the samples to be fully cultured to get official results.  Yes, this is going to delay the process by at least 2 months for you.  I went through this process with my wife.  Even though Sputum test results were negative, the US Dept. of Health required us to have an X-ray and a special blood test here in the USA too.

Basically it goes like this:

1) Chest X-ray, if clear you're good/done. If there's any suspicious findings (even if you're asymptomatic) you go to

2) Sputum, both rapid and culture. Rapid/initial is positive, you start treatment. If rapid is negative, you wait 2 months for the culture result. Meaning that they take the sputum collection and grow it in a medium that favors the growth of TB bacteria if present. It can take up to 6-8 weeks for TB to grow/appear. That's why if it show up at any time, you start treatment. If not, that's where you see people getting approved for immunizations after the cultures come back negative.

3) If any of the sputum collections show positive, then it's 6 months of DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course). She will go to SLEC each day for a treatment for 6 months. Weekends she has no treatments. Once SLEC release her then she is free to schedule her interview with USEM. The sooner you get this started the better. Remember one thing, TB can kill if untreated BUT if caught it can be cured.
