Driving from Irvine to LA convention for Oath Ceremony

I have a question for those who had their ceremony in LA convention center.

My oath ceremony is next week in LA convention center early in the morning at 7:30AM. How is the traffic in the morning from Irvine to LA?

Will it be wise idea to stay in a hotel there to avoid being stuck in traffic and being late for the ceremony?

How long does it take to drive there? I am planning to be there early by 6:30 AM.

I haven't had an oath in the convention center but did that drive in the morning (and home in evening) for four very long months.  Leave Irvine by 5:15 and you will be fine.  If you have a 110 fast track transponder (my guess is no if you aren't in LA much), so much the better.  Best route IMHO is 5 to the 91 to the 110, transponder or no.  Avoid the 405 if possible.

Good luck!

Congratulations!

If driving, please factor in the extra time to navigate the huge (5,600 car capacity) and very confusing parking complex at the Convention Center, and also add the time to get from your car to where you belong inside. This can easily add up to 20 minutes, depending on what other events are happening at the Center. Personally, on such an important day, I'd go for the hotel.

Here's the site pages devoted just for the parking: http://www.lacclink.com/attendees/parking

I lived in LA from 1994 to 2003. Traffic was horrible even "back then." I would not risk morni0ng rush hour for such and important event (congrats)! I'd go with a hotel and relax the night before...but still get up early to get to the convention center on time! Good luck!
