I am happy to say I got my green card and now that I do me and my husband are planning to go see my family back home.

But my question is that is there a certain procedure when I go to the airport and when I come home ?

Citizenship Journey:

K-1 Visa - Citizenship: 04/14/2015 - 09/20/22

7 Years 5 Months 0 Weeks 6 Days 10 Hours 30 Minutes 0 Seconds

 

US Passport Journey: (Expedited) 

USPS Passport Appointment: September 29th, 2022

Passport Office Received Documents: October 3rd, 2022

Passport Application Approved: October 19th, 2022

Passport Received: October 21st, 2022

You have to buy your tickets in your passport name and use passport to enter your country. You'll use the green card to get back into USA. If you have changed your name through marriage, carry a copy of your marriage certificate in case it's asked.

Keep in mind not to leave the country for 6 months or over, it will cause severe problems when returning.

Also if you leave for 1 year, you will need a re-entry permit.

08/18/2016: Married!
09/21/2016: Sent AOS Package per FedEx Express

09/22/2016 Forms arrived at USCIS office

10/11/2016: Received NOA 1 in mail (forms accepted & processed)
10/26/2016: Biometrics Appointment
10/28/2016: Case is ready for interview & awaiting schedulement
12/08/2016: EAD & AP approved!

12/13/2016: Received EAD & AP combo card!

10/04/2017: Received Appointment letter!

11/02/2017: Interview! Decision cannot yet be made, awaiting final approval.

11/06/2017: Approval letter in mail!

11/13/2017: Greencard arrived!
