AOS / EAD Expiration before green card arrives???

Hey guys....I'm asking this for a family friend.

His work authorization and drivers license will expire in August and he hasn't received any information about his AOS yet. Can he renew his work authorization until he receives either his green card or a denial?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If he filed it as a category (c )(9 ) adjustment applicant with a pending I-485, then yes. You can renew up to 120 days before it expires.
