Hi,

We are planning to use my liquid assets (savings) to satisfy the affidavit of support (unemployed last few years).

I am wondering if the issue of Affidavit of Support gets satisfied before the NVC case is complete?

What I mean is if NVC accepts AOS/IV/864 and marks our case as COMPLETE (and mails it to the Montreal consulate for the interview stage), that means the we will not be hassled regarding "affidavit of support" during the interview?

Or, as some people suggest on the forums, maybe they will pressure us to find a co-sponsor (difficult for us). Is it safe to assume, everything related to affidavit of support gets resolved by the people of NVC?

It is the CO's discretion to allow assets to be used or not. They can deny it and make you get a joint sponsor or not. Yes they can say no.

I am hoping they will honor their own asset rules, which says that if I have the 3X or 5X the poverty limit, sitting in savings for a long time, then it satisfies the affidavit.

If anybody reading this topic has any info about Montreal Consulate Officer ignoring readily available savings in US account and insisting on finding a joint sponsor, please reply to this topic and pls share any tips you might have on how to argue with CO to accept my assets as sufficient proof.
