i am here in Bangkok waiting for the instructions to be mailed to my fiancée so we can go get police certification. It says though we need that packet. It has been here since Febuary 22. Does anybody know how long it takes for you to get this packet to the address or are we doing something wrong. Really wanting to get going and get back to US! Anything input will be much appreciated???

Not sure about other consulates/embassies but for most I've searched and so as mine, I went to the police headquarter in my area as soon as we received my case number ( approved NOA2 ) because packet 3 takes too long ( packet 3 is an instruction letter from the embassy where you take the interview stating documents they need to process the visa ). Packet 4 is just a notification thru email acknowledging they have received the documents needed as required from packet 3. I also finished my medical alongwith.

I have read on VJ many times that some never get packet 3 emailed to them and have used NOA 2 to get the police certification. I'm waiting for one as well . let my know if that works for you .

Today I believe the police want something that indicates the reason for the report. Of course its Thailand so this gives the cops a way to extort some baht. A fee is charged now which is paid inside the police station so no more secret cell phone numbers ect. I think the actual fee is 500 baht but some have paid 3,000 if they want quick service.

Keep in mind you can download P 3.

Do you have NOA 2 ?

~At this stage of the process instructions/requirements are often embassy-specific~

OP: Be certain of your forms, you mention 'I-129' (Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker) in your subject title, suspect that you meant to say 'I-129F' (Petition for Alien Fiance(e)).

Songsang got her police certification using the letter from the NVC stating the petition had been forwarded to the BKK embassy. As Ning states, "fee`s" can vary greatly, we paid I believe 1600.00 baht for "express service".

Did all this for a k1 just afew weeks ago.

I emailed the embassy and they e-mailed the packet 3 cover letter to me. The remainder of the packet can be downloaded. It took 2 1/2 weeks to receive by snail mail and I didn't want to wait.

The cops didn't care about it at the cop shop since I was there with my fiancee hence she was making a legitimate request.

It's not listed on their form as required so I think they just want proof she has a legit reason for the request.

Needed it expedited since the interview was soon so paid the 1500B fee (slipped into an envelope and untouched by the cop) for expedite. In my hands from ems in 6 days, well greased. I hated having to support that #######. If you can wait, just pay the 100B. You should have it in less than 3 weeks.
