Prep Work after submitting I-130

USCIS received my 130 on Dec.8th. Its been 3 months today. Wife wants me to call them to get ETA. I doubt I will get any acceleration in doing so.

Should I call?

Separate question:

I have copies and originals of documents sent in the I-130 package. Now that I have this waiting period, anything I should do to be as prepped as possible in talking to the NVC or for the interview?

They won't give you an ETA. All they will say is that they are currently processing applications from XYZ and you are within normal processing times. Nothing they tell you is any different from the listed processing times on www.uscis.gov.

All you can do now is ensure you have the required documents you will need for later (birth certificates, marriage certificate, etc.).

We filed our paperwork on Nov 13th and the I-130 only got approved yesterday so don't worry. To answer your second question, our interview took less than 10 minutes and we were approved. Our interviewer didn't look at the paperwork we took with us but having said that, we sent so many documents with our initial application so I guess they just checked those. He didn't ask any I-130 questions either.

The USCIS won't put in a service request until after their processing times have passed. She can call to see what date they may be working on at that service center, but it may not help any. Basically you sit on your thumb for about 6 months.
