DMV can't verify me on SAVE

Hi,

I have already submitted my AOS together with EAD and AP application,

And i already have my EAD card on hand.. I received it about a month ago..

I recently went to DMV to finally get a DL, only to find out that they

Can't help me right now because they can't verify my EAD with Uscis/SAVE,

And they said to wait for a call before I come back..

They couldn't explain it further and I just had to go home guessing what

Could have gone wrong.. I already have my SS and EAD both with the same

Name -- my married name.. I can't think of anything else that could deter my

Driver's License application..

Has anyone had any experience like this with the DMV?

I am from NJ and went to Bayonne DMV

Hey there! I was in the same situation 2 months ago, but it was in South Plainfield, NJ. Seems like they have to manually get a response from the DHS for the verification, because your name is not yet on the current SAVE database.

Did you give your mobile number to the DMV clerk? I did and I received a call after a week informing me that my name has been verified and can then go in to take the tests. The clerk also gave me a SAVE Check Case Notice sheet with a verification case number, so I can check it myself in the uscis site.

Hi!

After the immigration verification, they said nothing could be done

And they couldn't help me today and nothing was going to happen..

They didn't take my photo or thumbprint, they didn't even make me

take the written exam or visual exam..

In my case, it only took a week, but YMMV. You can check your SAVE case number online to see for any progress. I think I received their call a day after I got a "SAVE review complete" update. I also wasn't able to do any of the tests until on my 2nd visit.

Yep, everything is in my married name. It shouldn't be a problem. They just need to do a routine DHS verification.

Ok thanks.. I just checked the other day online and it said SAVE review complete and that they had sent response to agency, today is the 2nd day it's been that way, is someone from dmv supposed to call me? Coz i tried calling and they're not picking up..

You likely have to wait for a letter stating it's fixed and you can get a driver's license. I had the same issue. But everything originally was in married name due to my visa type.

I hope everything is going well for you! It doesn't have to be anything wrong with your application; it seems like the DHS servers are a bit fragile. I have this issue every time someone has to verify my status through SAVE.

When I went to get my SSN, the SAVE server was down, so they had to mail copies of my documents to an office in New York. Took them a month to verify things and respond to my local SSO.

And when I went to the DMV with my new shiny SSC, it was the same thing: they had to verify my status, but SAVE was too slow to let anything through. This time it only took a week though; they emailed me when it went through, and I received a letter the next day.

Hi there! Sorry, I just saw your response. Did DMV call you yet? I am unsure if DMV in NJ sends out letters once they have completed a DHS verification of an applicant. In my case, the clerk did specifically tell me that she would call me using a private number and that's why she took my mobile number. I am thinking you can either try to give them a call or do another visit when you can. They are also open on saturdays, until 1pm.

I opted to wait and got a call a week later after my first visit.. passed the knowledge test, the road test was waived.. I got my NJ DL that same day in less than 2hours.. -- amazingly fast compared to getting my license in the PH..

Hi! I was exactly in the same situation (both in SSO and DMV).. I guess the only time they wont have to verify is when we get the green card.. i hope it won't affect the job applications though.. thanks for sharing!

Hey, that's awesome! I'm still driving in my learner's permit and due to have my road test next month, because I never had a DL in PH.
