Moving from J1 visa to permanent resident

Hi,

I wonder if you guys could help with my AOS situation? I know I should really talk to a laywer about this, but I honestly can't afford to right now.

I am on a J1 visa (without a 2 year requirement), I recently married my wife, who is a US citizen. We were in a relationship outside the US for 10 years prior to marriage. I have been in the US for 2 years, and she has been living with me for the last 1 year.

We are hoping to submit AOS forms shortly. However, I'm worried about having an pre-existing relationship before we came to the US. Will this be a problem? I don't want USCIS to think I was using a J1 visa to get permanent residence. I've heard that I might need to submit additional forms apologizing for changing from J1 to permanent status, but don't know where to start. Can anyone give any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Should not be a problem. Just file the AOS forms accordingly. :guides:
