Nandos in America!

I am slightly obsessed with Nandos (portuguese fast-casual restaurant specialising in chicken marinaded in peri-peri spices, massively popular here in the UK) and my fiancé, when he came to visit, made me take him there 3 times in a week!! So my happiness knew no bounds today when I found out you could get Nandos sauces by mail order in the States:

It may not be restaurant style (although apparently there's one in DC) but it made me so excited I just had to share :)

I found that Kentucky Grilled Chicken taste similar with Nando's chicken. Maybe only add peri2 sauce?

I too am a complete Nandos obsessive and have been (very!) hungrily following any and all news of their (very!) slow progress when it comes to opening up in the US. Come to Cincy, Nandos, come to Cincy... I'd happily be their first Ohio franchisee if that's what it takes! :D :D

Meh. I've had Nandos plenty of times. It's quite popular in Israel, there are outlets all over.

But given the choice, I'd much rather go to Swiss Chalet, a Canadian chicken & ribs chain with their own "secret" dipping sauce.

Now when Swiss Chalet descends south into the US, that will be something to get me excited!

Hmm, I can't quite put my finger on why, exactly, but I do love Nandos... probably more so now that I can't get it, of course. Those little bottles of Nandos sauce you can buy here (or anywhere) aren't the same, at all, as the stuff they use in the restaurants, more's the pity. I used to live a few minutes walk from one of their branches in London and used to bring takeout (the peri-peri chicken/pita bread thing, with the hottest of the hot sauces and some fries... and a box of those spicy nuts they serve) back a couple of times a week, along with a couple of bottles of Sagres or Brahma (for that Nandos experience while typing long-distance to the then-fiance!) from a dubious little late-night shop that was midway between my flat and Nandos. I know it's not the most amazing food you'll find anywhere, but I have a definite affection for it! :D

Never heard of Swiss Chalet, but you had me at "ribs"... should I ever find myself anywhere where there's a branch, I will have to give it a try!

My first job when I move to Orlando is going to be to start a campaign to get a Nandos open...frankly with all the British tourists & expats I'm surprised they haven't already!! Although, my previous career path I'd dreamed up post-move was to open a beach bar, but maybe I should scratch that and open a Nandos franchise instead...:)
