AOS but I also have DACA -Question

Hello everyone. I have my work permit since I have DACA. I am currently adjusting status since I married a USC. I read the work permit under AOS is valid for only one year after it is given. My current work permit expires in November 2019. Which work pemit can I use? If for example one work permit expires before can I continue using the other one that is valid until Nov 2019? -this is in case I get work permit and expires before Nov 2019.  Thanks

If they issue you one through the AOS, your EAD with daca will automatically be canceled! You can use it for now of course... and that's good that you have one because its taking 6+ months for EAD based on AOS

Ahh! That's what I figured. Yeah, im lucky I can work while waiting. So it means if its taking 6 months when will I get it? My application was received Feb 09. Still nothing tho..so im looking until end of this yr?

I would say around August / September. I was in the same situation as you. I was one of the first 100's to receive DACA and had it up till I became a Resident and now ive been a citizen going on 2 years in September. Its along journey, but enjoy every step of it

Oh ok. That's the part Im a little concerned about. If i get my work permit in September for ex. It is going to expire in sept 2019! And how can I continue working? With my DACA permit i can work until Nov 2019. Or does this mean IF I get my GC before Nov 2019, I dont need work permit anymore to legally work?

You can renew the EAD based on marriage. But hopefully you'll be able to get your GC before the EAD expires, and then you won't need it anymore.

Correct if you have your GC you WILL NOT need a work permit anymore. But you can keep it for sentimental purposes like my wife does with every bit of paperwork we received.

exactly! I personally have kept my DACA EAD, My AOS EAD, and my Conditional GC.. I did have to turn in my 10 Year GC when I became a Citizen but I did keep a Copy lol, they all deffinelty hold sentimental value

Seriously my wife got made when I suggested we throw out some paperwork sent to us during her K1 process. So I just gave up and gave in.
