Seeking Feedback on N-400 Package Document Checklist

We are working on the husband's N-400 to send next week. 10-year GC was delayed until middle of last year... then we just kept saying 'next week... next week...' until we realized early this month that actually his naturalization window under the 5-year rule opens next week!

We just want to make sure we have the correct documents as applies to him:

  • Check ($640 + $85 = $725)
  • N-400 (Application)
  • Photocopy of GC, both sides
  • Divorce Certificate from earlier marriage - (M-477 states that "If you were married before, send: □ Proof that all earlier marriages ended (divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificates(s)).
  • G-1145 (e-Notification...)

Are we missing anything? Are we correct on including the divorce certificate from earlier marriage?

Hi Shakabala

It looks like , it is the only  version they have now.. Acc to USCIS Info  abt  G-1145 :  "09/15/14. A new edition of this form is coming soon. In the meantime, customers may file using previous editions.  You can find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the Form and Instructions" ..

I sent my N-400 file at the beginning of JAN17, with G-1145 /  date 09/30/2016 in the upper right corner and  with  date 09/15/14  at  lower left corner -  it was accepted..

I would suggest  to double check before you send it .. As for today , I cannot find  a new version..

You need to include your current marriage certificate, documents referring to you and your spouse (tax transcript, joint bank statements, joint CC statements etc.), evidence that the US citizen spouse has been a citizen for the last 3 yrs...etc.

To answer your initial question - Yes, proof of prior marriage ending is a must regardless of the 5 yr or 3 yr approach. I am including that as well as a copy of my current marriage certificate. You would need to bring in the original of that for the interview regardless, so a copy won't hurt.

  • sending I130 05/16/2007
  • cheque is cashed on 06/11/2007
  • NOA1 in mail 06/13/2007 (who said 13 is badluck )
  • 07/30/2007 After no touches and no other signs we just got an email with the APPROVAL of I130....Thank God !....now what ?

  • 08/07/2007 Case received by NVC and case number assigned :))

  • 08/13/2007 DS3032 and AOS bill were generated

  • 08/14/2007 Emailed choice of agent ...i'm so curious when they will accept it...hopefully soon

  • 08/21/2007 DS3032 and AOS fee bill arive in mail

  • 08/27/2007 paid AOS fee bill
  • 8/28/2007 DS3032 choice of agent accepted
  • 9/3/2007 IV fee bill generated
