Received a new Biometrics appointment letter - ADVICE NEEDED

Hi everyone,

I'm a little freaked out at the moment, because I just received a new biometrics appointment (after I did mine back in October) and I am afraid it will slow down my application substantially. I already explained what happened the first time I went for my appointment in this thread:

but, here's a short summary of that story:

I went for an early walk-in ( a week before my actual appointment) on October 22. My application was received on October 3. So when I walked in my local USCIS office here in Cleveland, OH, the guy who worked there first said it's ok to go in early, but then he saw my letter and said it was too early (?? a week???), and that he thinks the biometric info might not go through. I kept asking him what could happen and what is the risk, etc. - to which he kept saying he doesn't know how it works and that if I want to do it, it's my decision,but it might not work. So I was so irritated with him for not giving me any info and since I had never heard of anything like that from other people on the forums, I just went ahead and did it back then.

Now, since it's been a few months and I noticed there is some activity shown on the timelines here on applications from the same time as mine, I figured they will probably work on mine soon. But I didn't expect to receive a new Bio appointment letter... It's just a standard letter, just the same as the one I got the first time, but with a new date in March.

Now, my question is - would this slow down my application substantially? Would they put me in a pile which will be worked on months from now? Or do they just put me on the side till the biometrics info arrives and then proceed with my application? Has anybody heard of any similar experience?

I appreciate any input on the subject. Thank you!

I still wonder if it's an error, why would it be 3 months apart..

I would call as that was last year. We received three letters for the same appt date and time back in September 2014.

Yes, I will definitely call them tomorrow, and I will update with what they told me. I honestly don't mind going again, it's not far for me, as long as it doesn't slow down the process. I'm tired of explaining to prospective employers what an extension letter is.

Let me know how you make out. I am also Cleveland so I hope it IS an error from USCIS and not a problem with processing in Cleveland. The woman who did mine was so busy talking and not paying attention that I'll be surprised if there are no problems. She also took my kids' fingerprints which I was told they would not be doing.

I will absolutely let you know. it's my second time dealing with Cleveland's office, first time was for my AOS, no problem back then but the person who helped me was a lot more knowledgeable. This time the person ether didn't know what could go wrong or he just didn't feel like sharing it with me. Did you also go earlier than your appointment?

I did 3 times biometrics..... and after I ve done my last biometrics... then I got approved after 10 days later.. dont worry it happened alot

Actually when I got there for 3rd biometric.. I asked them I already did 2 times and I showed my 2 times fingerprints notice. And they checked my case.... then said we only need ur new pics thats all... no need finger prints today.. yup

I did not go earlier than my appointment as it was so close after receiving the letter itself. Check out my signature with my dates. It was right after Christmas and New Year's. The timing happened to be great for me.

I called them today and got through to a real person, she checked my application status and everything, but she had no idea why I got a second letter. So she transfers me to 2nd tier and there the wait was 82 minutes. They have a callback system, so I leave my number for them to get to me when it's my turn. They called about 3 hours later and said that I should go to the new appointment, they don't know why, but he thought there might have been a mistake in the processing of the biometrics. So, I guess we'll wait and see how long it will take them after my second biometrics date.

ewwww.... this does NOT make me feel better about Cleveland. Did I mention they actually did finger prints for my little kids? One of whom had green marker all over his fingers!!!!

Seems like the Cleveland office is just generally confused. But they took my biometric info and let's hope it's ok this time. I decided not to stress about it anymore and I will just wait and see what happens!
