Is the NVC case number needed for DS-160?

Hello,

I was wondering if the NVC case number is needed for the DS-160 online application?

I'm afraid I might have made a mistake of adding the USCIS receipt number on the "travel" page of DS-160 instead of the NVC case number..?

At what point is the NVC case number needed? For scheduling the interview?

Thanks in advance!

Ilovemyman: Thank you! So is it the "travel" page where I'm supposed to add both USCIS receipt- and NVC case number?

I've already submitted my DS-160 but found a way to retrieve my application to edit things, just can't see where I would add the case number.

Thanks Rossa! :)

But does anyone remember where in the DS-160 form you need to write in the NVC case number?

I'm going through the application and can't see anything about NVC number - on the travel page they only ask for the USCIS receipt number.

When I received Packet 3, it was written : When communicating with this office either by telephone or letter please provide your name and case number exactly as shown in this letter (Packet 3) , that was new number, diferent from USICS number. And I filled out DS-160 after receiving Packet 3, so I used this number from their letter. And I wasnt asked for USICS receipt number on DS-160 like DGSEA was

Ok hmm thanks! So I just paid the application fee and scheduled my interview so hopefully everything's fine. I guess the DS-160 is not the same for every country!

I remember when helping my fiancée to complete the DS-160 it specifically requested the USCIS receipt number. Reviewing the DS-160 help and FAQ confirms this to be the case. Nowhere on the DS-160 did I encounter a request to input the NVC case number.

Help: Application Receipt/Petition Number

If you are applying for a petition-based visa, your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

DS-160 is the same for all countries. It doesn't ask for the NVC case number, so you were correct when you entered your USCIS receipt number where it asked.

Apparently it is not the same, because I know what I filled out, I didn't have question about USICS case number :)
