OK thanks NLR, I guess we'll hold off crossing the border until the big move. My wife is here in Canada with me anyways ( yes the domicile issue did come up at my interview, but they believed my wife kept strong enough ties to the USA) and we have years to look forward to in the USA so what's the rush?

Yeah, I believe you here NLR. It seems like no one at CBP really wanted to stretch their necks and say anything definitive. Therefore, I suppose I will hunker down in the Peg for another month and a half or so, and make sure everything is done in the proper way. We got news during this trip that my husband's work partner was badly injured in a motor vehicle accident, so as soon as we get back to the midwest, he will be on the road...probably for a month. So it wouldn't make much difference if I were to go down or not.

I rushed BUT I'd given notice at my work and was already done, given notice at my apartment, and my husband was flying up for a week off to move me down. I was perhaps, overconfident? But it worked out in the end. Now ROC. there is another story... /hides

Hello! I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to. For the Document Cover Sheet that was sent in my welcome email from NVC there is one document that says Photocopies. I'm not sure whether to check off Enclosed or Not Applicable. I'm curious to know what others did? I'm filing electronically if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Inquiring minds want to know your ROC story

It hasn't started yet. But lets just say my husband is a camera phobe in the last 2 years (I have NO idea why) and we don't have a couple of key joint financial items. He's not worried about ROC at all. I guess if it comes down to it, if I have to interview because he didn't take ROC seriously, then that's what I have to do. Or if they boot me out because of it, well that's not on me either. I'll certainly be happy if it all goes easily and smoothly. I'm super glad that we have California as a service center not Vermont though. Looking at the timelines, CSC is much quicker.

Hi all -- Just had our AOS fee change to N/A! Waiting to confirm with NVC next week, but I think we've finally gotten our case complete!

How long did you have to wait for your case complete email? How about your interview email? Just curious how quickly things move from this point forward.

So excited to be finally at the last step of the process. That was a long 12+ months!

we have the same CC date! (well my second CC date is feb 6th. The one on dec 30th wasnt real apparently...)

Hoping for a March interview. They book towards mid month for second round of interviews, so hoping to hear something at the end of this week or next week.

I just got off the phone with the Ministry of Health here in Ontario and explained my situation. I told them that once I cross the border I will now be a USA resident, but living and working in Canada until I retire and move to the USA for good sometime in July. They told me that my provincial health coverage will continue until I move because even though I will be a USA Permanent Resident, I will still be a Canadian Citizen and Ontario will be my principal place of "residence" until we move for good. They told me to give them a call when we do leave Canada for good, and my health coverage will cease at that point.

No I never thought to ask for what the lady at the Ont. Min. of Health told me in writing. Maybe I should call back and hopefully get someone else to confirm what I was told, but from the rules I read on their web site it sounds like she it correct. 1. Be a Canadian Citizen, 2. Make Ontario your primary place of residence, which could mean this is where you live and work for now even though you have become a USA permanent resident.
