we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Does everybody's status change to this? Or any of you received fingerprint notice without status change ?

Sent n400 with fee waiver March 04,2014. Received by Phoenix Lockbox March 07, 2014. NOA received March 18, 2014 dated March 14,2014. Fee waiver approved.

How did you request the waiver of the fee? Based on asylum status since green card? or based on what factors? Thank you.

base on I can't afford it. Financial hardship as husband lose his job. Filed I-912 request for fee waiver together with n400. Entered on k3 visa. Married to the same american for almost 9 years now. Got 10 year green card in 2008.

Yes, that does seem rather sneaky. I wonder if there's something buried in your bank's fineprint that allows certain exceptions for certain state institutions. I do recall something similar happening to me seven years ago when I owed the Federal Governemt a tax payment. I mailed in a cheque for the amount, and I recall it was not processed in the same manner as when I normally issue cheques. The funds were also withdrwan a lot quicker!

3/21 My bank shows a direct withdrawal from USCIS for the fee I sent via check but not as a check being cashed, a little mythed on how that is possible?

Will be calling my bank to confirm later.

From N-400 Instructions:

Notice To Those Making Payment by Check

If you send us a check, it will be converted into an electronic funds transfer (EFT). This means we will copy your check

and use the account information to electronically debit your account for the amount of the check. The debit from your

account will usually take 24-hours and will be shown on your regular account statement.

USCIS will not return your original check. USCIS will destroy it and keep a copy with your file. If the EFT cannot be

processed due to technical reasons, you authorize USCIS to process the copy of the check. If the EFT cannot be completed

because of insufficient funds, USCIS may try to make the EFT up to two more times.

If you receive an insufficient funds notice,

USCIS will send you instructions on how to submit your penalty fee.

Do not send a check for the penalty fee to the address where you filed your Form N-400. It will be returned to you.
