I am still waiting for my visa, so I decided to attend the Guidance Counseling Program (GCP) at CFO office in Quirino just thing morning.

I arrived at the office at 4:00 AM and I was the 7th person there, so I decided to get a piece of paper and list our names (Well, it won't hurt to make sure that it is really first come, first served, 15 slots for morning session you know) LOL. We are there for different countries and I was the 3rd one for US :) Yey! People started to arrive at past 5 and we started lining up on the ramp (Fiance/Fiancee/Spouse). We started to register at the desk at around 6:30AM and was asked for 2 valid ID's. Make sure you have photocopy of your valid ID's, and make sure that you have 2 valid ID's :) My NBI clearance was left at the desk and I was given the ID with pink "F'. WE were instructed then to head to the 3rd floor and then, we were asked to fill-out a form. Well, make sure you know your FIANCE's/FIANCEE's/SPOUSE's MOTHER'S FULL MAIDEN NAME and CONTACT NUMBER/LAND LINE NUMBER in the US :) (Some were put on hold, because they don't have these details).

After filling-out the registration form, pictures were taken via webcam (NBI thing), we were directed to wait because the GCP will start at 9AM. There were 15 of us in the room and we were chatting to each other already. The seminar was informative and last part was the one-one with the Guidance counselor. Here are the tips:

1. Be confident

2. You should look at the eyes of the counselor while talking, the counselor is taking notes :)

3. Prepare your fiance/fiancee/spouse's biographic data page of passport (some were asked, some not)

4. Bring pictures of you together ( I was not asked, though better be ready)

5. If your partner, has previous divorce decrees. BRING IT and have it photocopied

6. You should know your partners' educational attainment

7. Well, keep it mind that this is counseling, so don't panic if the counselor ask so many questions.

My one-on-one counseling with the counselor was quick and short. She directed me to go downstairs (Ground Floor) and wait for my name to be called foe\r the payment and releasing of my GCP certificate. It was 11:45 AM then and we were all hungryyyyyyyy. My name was finally called at 12:35 for the payment and waited for another 15min for my certificate to be released.

Done! Yey! I will be back for my CFO sticker once I have my visa in hand :)

be ready. Make sure you have 'additional documents' which might be asked. We (who attended the GCP) were asked for diff documents. If you lack a document, be confident to defend or reason out why you don't have the document. One was even asked for a death cert for his past husband...

Does anybody here know if the counselors ask about the husband's ex-girlfriends. Like if he was never married before, do they ask you to enumerate every girlfriend the husband had in the past and how they broke up, that sort of thing? I want to be prepared. Thanks!

Nope. Or nobody here reported / shared that they were asked about past GFs. wink.png There's no way anybody can verify that sort of info anyways. But number of marriages could be. Just do note that a CFO counselor's set of questions aims to check how much you know about your fiance/ husband, and somehow in the conversation, gauge your readiness to be immersed in a different culture. Trick is to be confident about your relationship with your fiance/husband, but don't be arrogant. They tend to pick on certain behaviors. wink.png

By the way, please feel free to start a new topic in the future if you have other questions, sis. smile.png

Not sure if anybody will see this BUT, it list guidance and counseling forms to take with you to the course. What are they? OR is it something they fill out there. I am going to have my fiancé attend the day before his visa interview to hopefully speed things along.

And just to verify, the actual class is still being held at PRISM, while the certificate is being presented at the actual CFO office for the sticker.

PRISM hasn't existed for a couple years now, all classes in Manila are done at CFO (around the corner and down the street from where PRISM was ;) ). Read the CFO links for details and scheduling the appointment

PRISM is not involved anymore. Everything is done through the CFO offices in CEBU and MANILA. Read the CFO website as it has all the information necessary. Also, Hank's website has the information necessary. Good Luck.
