Hi there everyone,

I need some clarification please.

I just received a letter called "Notice of Approval form I-171" for my I-130 from USCIS at the American Embassy in London.

I was under the impression that this is NOA1....but it seems it's NOA2 as it's an "APPROVAL" and not a "RECEIPT"....

Is:

NOA1 = RECEIPT of I-130 and,

NOA2 = APPROVAL of I-130?

I think I was confused as I never received a NOA1....I guess my "NOA1" was when USCIS London took the payment from our credit card???

most probably yes, read the notice carefully again look for words like "approved this petition I 130 for ...." maybe your NOA1 got lost or something else

btw correct your timeline if it is your NOA2 not NOA1

I have to go to work soon. As soon as I'm back I'll scan this document - removing all the personal info - and post it here, so that it can help not just me but anyone else as well.

It clearly states: "The visa petition you filed has been approved"

I'm not a DCF expert but I do read a lot of London things. And I recall others saying there is no NOA1 from London. It's exactly as you said--I guess my "NOA1" was when USCIS London took the payment from our credit card.

That's what I thought. I've been reading sooooooo much stuff on VJ and yet I missed this snippet of info saying that I might not even get a NOA1...

Thanks everyone for the congrats! It came as a bit of surprise, but I'm not complaining! :dance:

I'll post the scanned docco in the UK London DCF thread as it's country/embassy specific and I don't want to confuse anyone that is not filing via DCF in London.

November 14, 2009 - met randomly in a park in Atlanta, talked 1 hour

November 16, 2009 - started emailing daily

December 11, 2009 - flew to DC for a weekend to visit

January 5, 2010 - JL flies back to Germany :(

March 17-23, 2010 - I visit JL in Germany

September 1, 2010 - I move to Germany!

September 9, 2011 - Married <3

German Visa

December 20, 2011 - applied for German visa

February 9, 2012 - interview

March 26, 2012 - temporary 18 month greencard!

US VISA

April 3, 2012 - mailed I-130s to Frankfurt

April 11, 2012 - NOA1 mailed

April 13, 2012 - I-130 payment authorized

Same here. I guess it is the NOA 2 that I received last week while I was on vacation. Now I'm just wondering where this case number is at but I guess they will send it to me sometime within 5 weeks of this letter of approval.
All this is so confusing.

IR1/CR1 Visa - DCF at London Embassy

April 16, 2013: Mailed out I-130
April 18, 2013: Date Petition filed
May 13, 2013: APPROVED!
May 22, 2013: Case Number received
June 3, 2013: Mailed out DS-230 & DS-2001
June 4, 2013: Medical Exam at Bentick Mansion
Unfortunately I have to re-do it in 6 + weeks as I was diagnosed with pneumonia
June 22, 2013 I traveled to the USA with the plan of returning to the UK, spoke to a Immigration lawyer and he told me to change my status and go the AOS route.
Since 2014 I am a permanent resident.
