Original or Certified Marriage Certificate

Hi, I am getting conflicting answers regarding whether to send original or certified. On their website, NVC states that they either original or Certified copy will suffice. My wife has original with her b/c she needs to take it the interview when that happens. I have a certified copy from the marriage registrar's office. Will this not work?

Yes, the certified copy will work because the stamp certifies that is a true copy of the original. Never send anyone the original document because there's a small possibility that you may never get it back. In Colombia everything is kept by official notaries and they're the ones who keep the original documents, people can only get certified copies which is why the NVC has to accept them in lieu of the original.

It all depends, we have sent NVC original marriage and birth certificates as well as copies.

The originals were given back to my wife at the time of visa interview.

Hey guys !

I'm wondering, How much does the Certified copy cost per copy? and where to get in New Delhi?

I emailed the NVC exactly this same question. I also asked if we can get them certified in USA. NO RESPONSE yet.
