I did some data mining of the spreadsheet. In a world where we all get told that each case varies and there are no firm averages, this at least gave me something to look at. I could probably do better with throwing out the outliers and, of course the summaries are only as accurate as the data that is provided. But...if my pivot tables are correct:

68% of cases (or 68 cases) have been issued their visas. The average time from interview to visa in hand was 181 days for males and 72 days for females

25% of us (or 24 cases) are still under AP, with an average time elapsed since interview of 177 days for males and 89 days for females

6% of us have the unfortunate case reaffirmed status and are removed from the days outstanding calculations

K1 visas seem to take the longest, followed by K3's, and CR-1's - about 50 days difference between K1 and CR-1

Unfortunately there aren't enough instances to really accurately describe the AP timeframe for most countries, but on average Egypt takes 100 days, Morocco 131, India 138, Pakistan 243, and unknown countries are about 46 days.

You didn't say or do anything wrong and we are here for support I just felt like venting trust me I know how you feel the initial shock and the first couple of weeks are the hardest after that it does get a little easier. I do try and be positive because I do believe that the longest part is behind me. I do hope lots of people get their visas quickly. Sorry you bot offended. I wish you luck

I'm sorry, I've been a little over-sensitive of late  There's too many things going on at the moment, and the whole AP thing came out of the blue and added to them :( Never mind...hope we all get out of here as soon as possible!!

Thanks for analysing the data, but if the average for women is 72 days, and I'm still only on day 30... :(

Thanks for the data at least it confirms that most everybody does get approved.

Well, today was actually a good day for me. I am not sure if this is going to help, but I wrote a letter to department of consular affairs. See, my concern is they gave me a 221g for wedding plans and now that i have reserved everything they put us in AP. It would have been nice that they put us in this AP before they gave us that other 221g. Its just really frustrating when you have a wedding coming up in the next month. I hope we get an answer by the end of the month and that wonderful visa specialist is right that he should hear from the consulate by end of this month.

My heart goes out to all of you, and we hope this AP thing ends soon.

The strange thing is the consulate has called my fiance several times after the interview. They even called him to remind him to submit the documents that were requested initially. They called him after we submitted everything for a phone interview and find out our plans. Then he had a second interview where they told him he is approved, but pending our wedding plans. Then we submitted that and he got his passport back with the AP letter. But, now I don't understand why they put us in AP.

Don't be discouraged since you know they are actively working on your case. Administrative processing mean exactly that ..... in other words what I was told by a lady at DOS since they are not allowed to tell us exactly what is going on the easy way out is to just say administrative processing which covers a wide range of things. Even though my case was returned to USCIS when I call DOS every couple of months I just do it out of habit they will say your case is in AP but it is at USCIS you will hear from them. AP is just an term meaning something is being done on your case. It doesnt always mean security and name checks. So maybe your case is moving along. Good Luck

Thank you for clarifying that. I guess I should just keep in mind what that one DOS officer said. It seemed like he knew something, but was not allowed to tell me. I mean he was confident about that my fiance will not have any problems and we will not have to start over so I guess that is good confidence to know. But, everytime I call the other specialists tell me I have nothing to worry about. I just have to wait for the consulate to call my fiance. I hope that is very soon.

Who knows maybe they are backed up at the consulate because I have not seen them issue any visa yet. Just wishful thinking I guess.

As it's Friday, I called DOS for my weekly status check. The young lady who answered was very sweet, but was unable to help much. She confirmed that I was still in mandatory AP, that it was normal processing (5 weeks, for a British born citizen living in London? I don't think so!), and that it was up to the embassy. I thought mandatory AP was at DOS? Also, the first time I spoke to someone at DOS, again a very nice lady, told me that they were waiting for information from several agencies...so confusing!

Anyway, when I asked her for a date stamp all she would say that it was sometime this month. Today's the 26th, so that could mean almost four weeks ago :( I asked whether I should cancel the flight to the States my husband had booked for me, based on the CO at the embassy saying I'd get my passport back within a few days...she asked me the date of the flight, and when I answered, she advised that I wouldn't be getting my passport back before then :( :( :(

She was very sweet, I just wish she was able to give more information...roll on next Friday!
