Brii B & G San Francisco 2022-09-23 No No - High So... Thank you Consular unit for possibly jeopardizing my whole immigration process and giving me extreme anxiety about everything. It's funny, extremely funny actually, how the consular section is allowed to make tons and TONS of mistakes, but the disaster that would get unloaded on us the moment we make 1 small miss-hap is just baffling. So, what happened you might ask? Well, I arrived at SFO, after a super long and tiring flight. After I stood in line for almost 1 hour, I arrived at one of the border windows and the officer acted surprised by the fact that I'm entering with a K1 Visa. I asked him if that was a problem, and he said that he doesn't get any male k1 visas. This already threw me off guard, and he followed with a bombardment of questions, like TONS. These questions ranged from a plethora of things that I've answered 3 years ago when entering on a J1 Visa. After surviving all these machine gun bullets, he asked me for my yellow packet and while browsing through my files he continued to ask me tons of questions, which I've all answered truthfully and didn't seem to raise any issues. Anyhow, he looked up to me and said that my medical exams are not in the yellow packet... WHAT?!?!??!!?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?! Of course, my stomach was turning at this point, and with desperation, I reached out to my folder and hand him my x-ray CD to see if this could help the issue and he just gave it back and nodded his head. He then let me know that we will proceed to secondary due to the long lines and boy oh boy my blood was boiling... After waiting for like 1.5 hours, I had lost all hope over hearing them talk about how my medical was extremely important for me to enter the country. Miracles happen I guess, because this young brother officer came over, nodded and took my files and started looking at it. After a long while, he came back and he started asking me questions about my case and asked me if I've done the medical exam or not. I said of course I did, it's mandatory in order to get my K1 visa, and that's when it hit me! I still have original proof of payment for my medical exam! I told him that I had this document, and he said that he wanted to take a look at it. I gave him the receipt, that had my full name, description of the medical exam, and everything else. He said that this is proof to the border that I did it, and that he will take a scan of it and put it on my file. I gasped of relief, and after taking another 30 minutes of him scanning the receipt and putting it in my file he came over and asked me if i knew all the rules, to which I obviously nodded. He then walked back and returned with my stamped passport and said that this problem is no longer theirs or mine, but the consulate's and the USCIS'. I sent the consular section a very "kind" /s email stating how they jeopardized my whole immigration process and that I really expect these results to be sent over as soon as possible, so I can still include them with my AOS and not have to pay a load of money for another exam. Guys, please, have your medical files copied by the doctor and bring them with you to the US, because you can not count on the consular section. Seriously, you can not. Please, bring a copy or at least proof that you did your exam. As a matter of fact, bring a copy of friggin'; everything.. police certificate, birth certificates... everything that was needed for your K1 interview. That's what I did at least and I'm glad it BARELY worked out in my favor... 2024-08-09
