Great airport, nice customs and immigration staff. No hassle, just routine clearance questions. |

Our packets and Biometrics are actually taken in Guam with all the interviews and instructions. But our next stop over was Honolulu Hawaii and there is no more action taken like biometrics and interviews. All gone smoothly :) |

It has been more than two weeks since I arrived here in Virginia. My hubby and I would like to share our experience. We hope it will be useful for someone who will be traveling either alone or with their loved ones.
We left the Philippines on November 4th and traveled through Guam- Hawaii-Newark-Richmond
Anyway, when we arrived at Guam, we looked for the immigration before heading to another gate for our connecting flight. We were walking briskly since we only have an hour and 20 minutes before our next flight. We were first in line! The immigration officer asked for my packet when I showed her my passport. She called someone and a lady approached us and were asked to go to another room. In this room, she photocopied my passport and did more on her computer. (Now, I don't know who filled out my information for my I94). We sat for few minutes and we were called. She emphasized that we need to get married within 90 days or else I will need to go back home.
After this, we looked for our gate but it was not that easy since we need to go to the security first. Everyone will undergo security. My ticket to go to Hawaii has "SSSS" (Secondary Security Screening Selection)in it and so the TSA needs to check carry-on bags and additional inspection on me. Luckily, we arrived on the next gate on time and I was able to talk with a filipino.
When we arrived in Hawaii, there will be a shuttle bus going to another terminal so you can get your luggage and check them in again. It is tiresome but this is a cheapest fare and allows you to stretch your legs in between flights. (Manila to Guam is nearly 4-hour trip, then Guam to Hawaii is a 7-hour trip, Hawaii to Newark is a 9.5 hour trip)
I also would like to include here that when I printed my I94, my date of entry was on November 4th (Hawaii Time). Remember that it was in Guam where they physically took my packet, the local date then was November 5th. |
