I remember it as it was yesterday, My husband /finace at the time arrived at FLL and was in the Immagration holding for about 5 hours. Question after question was asked almost as if he was being asked all the question again that the Ebassy asked to approve him. Anyway after thinking they were going to send him back home finally he came through. |

Immigration officer stated the K-1 Visa holder can use the I-94 to apply for SS card, driver's license and can work. I was surprised that he said she can work, so, I verified this looking at document RM 00203.500 Employment Authorization for Nonimmigrants, Section C. A K-1 Visa holder can work without specific DHS authorization. |

Once done with the wait at the visitor's queue the wife and I handed over her packet to the immigration officer, he took her photo & prints, and were walked to waiting room just a few meters away from the lines. Just 10 minutes or so of paper shuffling, a signature, inked fingerprint, a stamp in the passport w/ her new Alien number and we were off to bag claim/customs. |
