I POE'd @ Coutts/Sweetgrass. I pulled up and told the guard I wanted to activate my K1. She took my package, had me come inside where I sat for over an hour. They did work on the package during this time, I just wasnt needed while they processed. I think I may have had a newer guard as he kept entering my visa as an immigrant visa and making comments about how the K1 the day before was so much easier, this is where a superviser would tell him it was a non immigrant visa. I was there almost 2 hours, we got the papers to import my car to Texas as per Texas law .. at the end he shook my hand and said "Welcome to the United States Of America" .. I was shocked and he saw it on my face that I wasnt expecting that, I was truly honoured by that gesture, I thanked him and went on my way with a smile on my face. A very easy smooth process, very friendly and professional. |

Crossed at the Queenston Lewiston Bridge at exactly 9:11pm. Went in and just sat. I was called up gave my packet to the officer then sat back down. Most of the waiting was just the officer doing the paper work. He was a very nice guy and gave us no issues. We didn't need a detailed list of my items.
I was called back up to give my finger prints and sign the papers. At 10:11 exactly an hour later we were in our car and on our way.
Overall this experience was rather painless for us. After reading visajourney and hearing about some of the problems people have had. I'm very grateful we were able to do it without a lawyer and in a relatively smooth manner all thanks to VJ's help!! Welcome to the USA!! :D |
