The embassy sent the package to the wrong house number in Brazil and Fernando never got the packet. We had to call the embassy after waiting a month or so and had the packet resent. We shouldn\'t have waited so long to call them, but we just didn\'t know how long it would take. Fernando lived in Canada for about 2 years and it was required that he get a police report from Canada for his K1 visa. We waited 4 months for the police report after sending them official fingerprints from Brazil and a US money order...another delay. Our K1 interview was only about 10 minutes in Rio de Janeiro. Fernando was asked minimal questions on how we met, and why we wanted to marry in the US, and what were our wedding plans. That\'s it. We were out of there in an hour and a half total and had to return later that day to get his passport with the visa. Smooth sailing! We were married in the U.S. in a private ceremony on February 2006 as per the immigration requirements, we call that our "paperwork wedding". We had another more formal wedding and reception in September 2006, renewing the vows from February. Finally, we had a third wedding in Brazil in January 2007. Three weddings! We've had a realatively smooth process. | 2007-08-06 |
