No real issues during the interview at 10:20am in San Francisco except a request for all past passports which ended up being not necessary (of course!), and the list of all previous trips abroad (which was in the documents filed anyway). The option was given to take the oath same day at 2:00pm or another week. The oath was in a room with 30 other new citizens from 22 different countries, with masks and physical distance, and it took less then the recommended 15mn limit for people to stay in a closed room. Anticlimactic but efficient! Got the naturalization certificate on the spot and instructions to apply for US passport. PS: plenty of street parking on a Monday with stay-at-home orders in effect | 2021-01-12 |
Elina & Igor | Phoenix AZ Lockbox | San Francisco CA | 2012-11-13 | 2012-11-15 | 2012-12-10 | 2013-01-30 | Yes | 2013-03-26 | During interview the officer corrected Elina's name to include her patronimic as a middle name (her docs were filed with only first and last names). We went to an infopass appointment the very next day and were advised to send a letter to Naturalization Unit, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, 630 Sansome Street, San Francisco, CA 94111 describing why we think that the patronimic should not be used as a middle name. (Contact me if you want to know what our argument was.) At the oath ceremony Elina received her certificate with the patronimic as a middle name, but before we left the ceremony she went up on stage and told the officer there that there's a mistake on the certificate. She was given an appointment that same afternoon at the USCIS San Francisco office. At the office they took her certificate went to a back room and after some time (we assume that they checked the paperwork and read our letter) came back with a corrected certificate with no middle name. Woohoo! | 2013-10-03 |
