Amazing interview experience at the Dublin US embassy, staff is polite and welcoming, makes you feel comfortable.

POE experience was also great at Newark/NewYork.

Appreciative of the staff.

My husband said they asked him for marriage certificate. Then he was brought into an office and asked How long we had been married. They asked about his employment in Ireland and did he intend to get a job in America. He was also asked if he had visited any other countries recently.

I flew from Hamburg to Washington DC and had a very short layover in Dublin. Up until one day before I flew, I didn't even know that Dublin was a Port of Entry to the U.S. and I was pretty shocked when a friend from visajourney told me about it. I asked at the airport when I checked in, if I will even be able to make it with only 70 min in between my flights. But they couldn't tell me.
When I arrived in Dublin I was thinking that at least I won't have to go through security check again, but I had to. So I was even more stressed and in a hurry.
After the security check I went up to the window of the immigration officer and luckily was the first in line. He took my passport and asked me why I want to go to the U.S. and I told him, I'm coming on a K-1 visa and get married soon. Then I gave him the sealed envelope and he guided me to an area behind a door for secondary screening. He asked me to wait until I get called, so I sat down. There were around seven people waiting and I talked to two of them. They told me, they were already waiting for 45 and 50 min and I was highly concerned to miss my flight. I was the fourth to get called and the officer looked very grumpy and told me in an angry voice that I arrived way too late and that I will probably miss my flight. He added that I literally gave him 5 min to process my case and documents. I apologized and told him I didn't know that Dublin is a POE until the day before. He typed things into his computer without talking to me or looking up once. I already feared he will deny me. After a while he just asked me for my address in the U.S. and kept typing into his computer. I got even more nervous... and then he just gave me my passport back and told me "You are good to go. Run to your gate." And that's it. No questions or anything 😲
I didn't expect it to go so smoothly after all! But I would highly recommend anyone who goes through Dublin and has a layover to have at least 2-3 hours in between their flights. I just had luck that the airport was so empty and the officer so lenient.

20 minute line at preclearance, once I got to a desk with a CBP agent I told him I had a K-1 visa and he said “ooo don’t get those every day” and asked me a couple of casual questions: where I’m moving to, how long we’ve known each other and how we met. Turned out the agent went to university in our city so he gave me some recommendations of places to go for dinner.

After that, he took me to the back where there was a secondary waiting room. There was no one else waiting so it took all of 2 minutes for one of the agents there to open my envelope and look through the documents. I was called up and basically asked if I was travelling alone and when the wedding was. She informed me that I had to get married within 90 days or leave and sent me on my way. I had a 2 hour layover and was worried about making it but I had loads of time in the end

The longest part of the process was the big queue in pre-clearance, where you wait with everyone else. Getting my k-1 stamped was really quick and easy, staff were efficient and friendly.
