Cleared customs at Calgary airport pre-clearance. Walked up with my USC fiance, but once I handed over my EU passport I was asked to go to secondary - which made us nervous given our pending K1. Once there, the officer wanted to establish whether or not I had been in Canada long enough to bypass the travel ban. Once that was established, I was asked why I’m visiting and for how long & that was it - we were through.

Crossed at derby line Vermont at 12:05am. The place was a ghost town with only a few officers on duty. Unfortunately for me it wasn’t a quick process with checks and double checks and what seemed to be phone call after phone call to activate my visa. I did end up getting the IR1 stamp which is great but I was there until 2am and didn’t get home to Maine until 5:30am

I entered using the Pacific Highway Land Port of Entry. It was fairly uneventful and I was traveling down to activate my visa with my motorcycle. I came up to the CBP booth and advised them that I was in possession of an immigrant visa, and they had asked "have you used this visa before" and I said "no". He processed me for secondary inspection, and advised me that I will be required to formally import my vehicles once I'm moved in otherwise they will be likely to deny entry to my vehicles in the future if they still had their BC Plates. After acknowledging this, I proceeded to secondary, provided my passport and address to the officer who came out of the building. I waited about 10-20 minutes and he came out and handed my passport back to me, saying that I was "stamped in" and that your green card should show up within 6 months and congratulations and I was sent on my way.

Probably the easiest crossing I've done, and no harassment. I'll be returning to Canada for the rest of my things on the weekend, so we'll see how subsequent entries go.

I'm not a Nexus card holder, but I do have a pending application which isn't being processed due to the pandemic closing enrollment centers.

I crossed through the Ambassador Bridge (Detroit-Windsor). The process was smooth. It took about 30 minutes. I had rented a car to cross over. They asked where I was coming from, where I was going, when did I get married and asked me to go to secondary. At secondary, they asked how much stuff I was bringing with me and what was in it. I gave them all the required documents: Passport with visa, Rental car documents, Bill of Lading and Customs Form 3299 (I had UPack ship my stuff). I also gave them a detailed list of my items in the UPack cube by box number. Somebody came back to confirm where I wanted my Green Card and SSN sent and then 15 minutes later came back with all my documents and passport, said "Congratulations and Welcome to the United States". I didn't even have to get out of the car!

POE at the Ambassador Bridge.

I was driving across with my three dogs in a borrowed vehicle (my Canadian parents) and a rented Uhaul Trailer full of my personal and household belongings and my husbands motorcycle (still registered in Texas just never made it back from a visit to Canada). I pulled up in the car lane (there was no bus/RV/trailer lane open) and handed over my passport turned to my visa and informed the officer I was entering to activate my visa. He asked to the license plate number of the truck (he couldn’t see it because of the trailer) and the UHaul rental agreement. I was asked if I was importing the vehicle (I was not, will be returning it in a few months). He also asked if I had an immigrant packet to which I responded that it was electronic. He then asked me to open up the uhaul and he had a quick look inside. He asked how much cash I was carrying, who sponsored me and what I did for work. He then asked me to pull into secondary. It was a tight fit with the trailer so he moved the barricades for me - it was much appreciated.

In secondary I was asked the same things again, I opened up the trailer again for a different officer and was asked a few simple questions about what contents I had (they didn’t want to see the list I had prepared). I was asked another two times if I had a packet, to which I responded each time that it was electronic. They told me to wait in the car, I’m not sure if that was a covid protocol or because I was alone with three dogs - regardless I really appreciated it. It took about 45 minutes for them to come back with my stamped passport. They explained it was good for a year and that if I didn’t get my physical green card within a year to call USCIS. They then moved some barricades and helped me get the trailer turned around and on my way.
