Review Topic: K1 Visa

Had my interview on Friday and it went well came in about 40 minutes before my scheduled interview time but it was no problem.
I came in and waited, then after about 15-20 minuted I got called to the first window where my documents and passport were taken and I was only asked about previous marriages for me and my fiance (both never married). I gave the medical envelope and got the Xray cd back to be handed at my future POE. I was asked to wait until I get called for the consular interview.

The next wait was longer, about 45 minutes until I was called for the interview. I was asked to raise my right hand and swear that all the information I am about to provide is correct. I did get a few more questions than I had expected but those were relevant to our case and situation.
When the consul finished asking questions and typing everything in, she said everything looks good and I can take a seat again until I am called.
I was called again after about 15 minutes for biometrics. Then waited about 5 minutes and was called again to receive final information about arrival of the visa and entry to the US (6 months validy, 90 days to marry) and that was it

I will add that having visited the Tel Aviv branch last summer to receive my visitor visa, I was unable to bring my phone or bag in with me and had a friend wait for me outside until I was done. I did not see different information on this for Jerusalem and was pretty sure I'd need someone to keep my things again while inside the embassy. However, only after I went in did I realize I could have taken my bag with me and deposited my phone at the entrance. So just FYI for the next applicants.

Overall, it was a positive experience and I am waiting for my passport to return now!

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My fiance had his interview here in Jerusalem for the K-1 Visa. He said it was super easy and he did not wait long. There are "two" interviews...the first person speaks to you in Hebrew (or Arabic) and makes sure all of your paperwork is there. The one thing that was weird is that they ask you to go outside to open your medical exam results. We were told not to open them and that a consulate officer is supposed to open it. My fiance was confused and asked him if he is sure he is supposed to open it and the officer said yes..please step outside, open them and come back in. Kind of strange but it was fine.

Then the main interview was done in English and was super quick. He only asked my fiance 3 questions: 1) how did you two meet? 2) when was the last time you saw each other? 3) what does your fiance do for a living? That was it. He then said "you'll receive your visa in 2 weeks" and my fiance was confused at first if he got approved because the officer was very casual about it but yes he was approved

The only problem is that they said he would receive it in 2 weeks and instead he received it 4 weeks. His interview was December 7th and there was Hanukkah and Christmas and New Years so they must have been short-staffed and also my fiance was in a vey specialized unit in the military so it is possible that they needed extra approval and the person who gives final authorization was on vacation so we had to wait longer.

Other than that, it was very quick, he was in and out and in 1.5 hrs and got his visa 1 month later...arriving tomorrow and couldn't be more excited!

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband arrived about 20 minutes early and had all documents in order. They initially thought we were using a joint sponsor, so they started looking for that paperwork, but realized we didn't need it because we didn't need a joint sponsor. They mentioned that all our paperwork was very nicely in order and they didn't need to search for anything. The entire process of waiting and being interviewed took about 45 minutes or so.

We had no complications and they were very friendly. We spoke in English during the entire interview.
