Review Topic: K1 Visa

My experience with the US consulate in Frankfurt has been a positive one. I didnt know my way around at all and had to ask a few people there for help, but all of them were very nice and responsive. The whole process took about 2 hours in total. The consulate officials were very nice and easy to talk to. Overall a great experience.

Arrived with public transportation. Short walk to get there, also quite a few parking spots.
Be at least 15 minutes before your appointment.
Cell phones allowed but have to turn them off and leave them at the security gate during the visit.
The process going from window to window went quite fast. Immigration area wasn't as crowded
as non-immigration area.
Got typical questions which should be easy to answer. I had a bunch of evidence with me but the
consular officer didn't ask for anything. W2, IRS tax returns are a must. They aske for a letter from
the sponsor's employer but it worked without, too.
Staff is very friendly and was approved after 2 hours.

Review Topic: Medical Appointment

I had my medical appointment one day after the k1 interview at the consulate. I was told that it is okay to not have it done before the interview as there is a heavy backlog at the physician’s office in Frankfurt. I was told by the physician that the consulate received my medical report on September 5. My interview appointment was on august 29 and the medical appt on august 30.

The us consulate told me that they have not received the medical report and then changed to saying that they have not received the correct one. I am very confused as to what is happening. The physician told me they delivered the correct report and that the consulate had not reached out to them, requesting another version of the medical.

Review Topic: General Review

My interview was set for 7.30am and we were there at 7.15am. There was already a line of about 20 people.
A friendly staff member approached us and told us not to worry about our appointment time.

All together from getting in line, till leaving the consulate took a little over 2hrs.

We were allowed inside as a family, since we had to travel far and couldn't leave our small kids unoccupied. (3yrs old and 11 months old)

The packages/mail from consulate never got to us, so we had prepared everything in advance using this link:

https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:e8932235-a126-3da2-998d-239a9fc36704

There was just one additional form I had to fill in there regarding where I had lived since the age of 16.

The interview was quick and easy and very friendly.

Questions asked:
- how did you meet your fiancé?
- what is his job?
- are you both getting married the 2nd time?
- are these your both kids?
- since when did you consider yourself a couple?

In the end the officer said I'm approved and I'll get my passport within 1 week.
I did actually start tearing up and said thank you.

We stayed in the Best Western Inn close to the consulate. It was a 8min walk shortcut next to Aldi and an appartment area.

My medical results had already arrived. I had my medical done in Frankfurt on Monday, 14th at 8am and my interview was Thursday, 17th, 7.30am.

The CEAC status changed to approved in the afternoon of the interview.

What helped us was this forum all along and a shout out to helpful member Pia!

I used the doctolib app to get a sooner medical appointment. The medical in Hamburg was closed for 1 month due to summer holidays.

We are beyond grateful for this website!
