Checked into the travelodge vauxhall the day before and I checked out the place at night to see the best possible route. It's a 10ish minute walk and I recommend doing this and finding the best possible routes as google maps can take longer.
I had my appointment at 10.30 am and I left the travelodge at 9.30 am. Good thing is that you can store your bag there.
I did not want to take a chance and packed for taking the bag inside security. But it was not needed.
I reached at approximately 9.45 am and I saw a huge crowd of people waiting outside the embassy. It's important that you join a smaller queue which is for check in services. Here they check you ds260 and "check you in". When i reached the front of this smaller queue it was already 10 am. (You can enter the security only half and hour before your appoitment time)

Stayed at Travelodge Vauxhall and scoped out the embassy the day before my appointment. The embassy is a very short walk from this hotel, about ten minutes if that, and is easy to get to. There's also plenty of restaurants (Vauxhall Market Place) and little grocery shops such as Sainsbury's and Waitrose dotted right outside of the hotel, along with a train stop and bus depot, so I would highly recommend staying here. Just keep your expectations modest with the hotel and it will be a comfortable stay as it is by no means 5 stars, but does the job. There was a very long line outside the embassy on my investigation the day before which made me decide to arrive extra early on the day of my appointment.
I left an hour and a half early to wait in line on the day and it took me 40 minutes to get to the front. There were only two people who stood at a small podium to take people's documents. I had my K1 Visa appointment at the US Embassy in London on the 3rd September at 9:30am.
I arrived to the embassy at 8:30am and the cue for the visa was already very long. After half hour an embassy employee made his was down the cue checking passports and DS-160 confirmations. As I was there for the K-1 Visa interview he sent me straight to the front of the cue to be checked in.
After being checked in at the desk I was sent to the front of the security line where I waited for another 20 minutes.
You cannot take any personal laptops through security so try not to bring one or make sure you go and store it at the lockers in the cafe across the road before you cue. I paid £6 to store my laptop as I had to go straight to work after.

Denied my tourist visa application, she didn’t even look at any of my documents supporting my application. She said that I don’t qualify for tourist visa because I don’t have enough ties to UK despite the fact that I have been living in UK for 18 years, have a status leading to UK citizenship in the next 4 years, having business and car on finance in UK . She just wrongly believed that I will overstay my Christmas 3-day trip to New York and will become illegal immigrant, jobless and homeless in the most expensive city in the world ?????. No even chance to appeal and speak to someone who can review this decision. I have visited over 10 European countries as a tourist in the past two years and had 3 Schengen visas and never overstayed them. If Biden in his mental capacity was making this decision I would have understood it, but that 30yo woman who said that nonsense made me believe that they just make a profit by charging non-refundable fees and rejecting more than 1m applications ... read complete review
