Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our interview was borderline culturally inappropriate and I don't think our visa officer knew anything about Islam or anything about the culture of the Middle East. She said comments such as "weren't you a little too old to study in a madrasa" referring to those horrid images on telly with little kids reciting the Qu'ran back and forth and didn't even think about the fact that my husband (fiance at the time) studied in a highly reputable Islamic seminary in Iran, called a madrasa from the Arabic word, but NOT at all like the ones she was referring to. Also, she didn't seem to believe that my husband learned theology, philosophy, science and arts in the madrasa. She even asked whether we shared a "bed" which in his eyes was totally inappropriate. Anyways, she finally approved us but it our interview was like walking on egg shells, she questioned and refuted each and every answer and turned everything around which was difficult for him to answer since English is not his first language.... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

I was absolutely terrified of my interview at the US embassy in London. I travelled via train from Canterbury that morning and was there an hour or so early. I lined up outside the embassy with my appointment letter and passport, this was inspected and then I was taken through security. Security were pleasant and quick. I then entered the embassy and was given a number. I sat down in the first side (all UK staff) and waited for my number to be called. Temporary visas (e.g. for camp america volunteers) were very popular and I must have seen 50-60 of these get called before a single immigration visa was called. The first set of windows are all UK staff and here you simply present your evidence/documents for inspection. I then had to pay the embassy processing fee and wait to be called for the second side (US staff) of the embassy interview. This took around an hour of waiting by which point I was a nervous wreck. The massive anti-climax however was just how charming and approachable the ... read complete review

Approved Today!

Well today was the big day,the one we've been looking forward to for months and months.
I woke up bright and early, 04.00am,and caught the 05.08 train to London,I then made my way to Bond St tube station and walked up Oxford St til I came upon North Audley St, I found the street real easy, proceeded to walk up there and found Gould's pharmacy, just a little further up the street and there was the American Embassy!
I now knew where everything was,but the time was only 07.15 and my appt was 09.00. I walked back and found a Starbucks, where I sat slowly drinking my Latte, I also used this time to check my documents were all in order, then put my appt letter,MRV paper and passport to hand.
It was now about 08.00 so I walked up to Gould's and handed in my phone and bag, I also had 4 more visa photos taken. I then walked up to the Embassy to join a queue of about 40 people, as we progressed along I was asked if I had any electrical items on ... read complete review

Review Topic: EB-4 Visa

I arrived at the embassy around 7.30pm was 10 or so in the line and had to wait till around 8am. We where then asked through the security etc. Went inside got my number and then went and got some orange juice. I was called at 8.10, cleared forms and handed in passport at first window, the lady was not the best, but i guess thats her job. Then about 8.30 called for interview, male interviewer, asked one question and signed form, and approved, paid the DX Secure fee, out at 8.45, I am one happy bunny! The embassy is infact a really nice place, but the earlier you get there the better chance you have of leaving early. Good Luck to ya all!
